Had a covid test. My firm wont let me return until I've had the all clear, which is fair enough of course, but i'm effin busy and need to get back on site. Results can take up to 5 days, but i'm hoping it gets here tomorrow, or over the weekend so i can get back in on Monday!

Re: What have you done today thread?
I was up at the boat at 7:30 and dropped the bottom of the outboard motor to replace the water pump impeller. True to form, the previous 'mechanic' had managed to destroy the thin nylon washer that sits on top of the impeller itself (there's one underneath too, like a couple of thrust washers I guess). Leaving everything as it was, I popped home and found a thin nylon cap from the measuring jugs I use for mixing epoxy. A little thicker than the original but OK I reckon. As the original was nice regular sizes - 26 mm outside dia and 20 mm inside dia I was able to cut one fairly precisely using Forstner bits.
Back up at the boat I cleaned up the whole water pump itself, slapped a bit of grease where it needed to be slapped and stuck it all back together. As easy done as said. Finished by 10:15. BUT, jeez it was hot up there! Almost burnt my fingers on tools left in the sun and now I have a bit of a headache.
Only three things left to do now. Speak with Çetin to get the mooring organised, organise the tractor and trailer to move the boat and anti-foul the bottom of the boat. All feels a lot better now.

Luckily not, but stupidly rushing about not thinking! Was storing boxes in the loft, shoving them up through the hatch on ladders that had seen better days, I pushed the box one way, ladders went the other, before I knew it I was on the floor with fractured ribs and a wrist that shouldn’t be at the angle it was

As far as politicos go and I'm no fan of the type,Swann did well with his poisoned chalice.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Caught le covid.
Went to a music and meal night last Saturday and got seated near a chain smoking Frenchie who started to cough his guts up.
He was asked to leave after a couple of minutes of this, but I guess the damage was done!
Feels like a bad cold tbh, luckily no shortness of breath.
Just have to grin and bear it.
Or go down the local intermarche and cough over the fruit and veg!

Got the all clear. Entered the code into the app and still get told to isolate for another 6 days. D'oh! Do I tell my firm or just go back in?

Dug a bloody great soakaway hole in horrible sticky clay.
There was more stocking to the spade than going in the wheelbarrow.
Then a pal said to dip the spade in a bucket of water before each dig
15 barrow loads later I'm done. And the sun is beating.

What drains into that very hard looking soil as you seem to be about a quarter of the size you need to be?

It's mainly for when I wash the bike or just hose the area clean.
It's the path from garage to the drive.
Twice a year we have monsoons which will flood anything I dig.
Hole just behind barrow .

Re: What have you done today thread?
Dug out a fence post spike out of concrete and took down old front fence and gate in preparation for new front fence and gate being installed next week. It’s fighting me all the way and I’ve snapped a shovel and bent my crowbar. My delicate office hands are shredded and I still have a bit left to do.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Accidentally got a Honda 2" petrol powered water pump working. It's been outside my shed for a good six months, maybe longer, as I wanted some spares from it. I was given it as seized hence my leaving it outside. As I was trying to remove the recoil starter cup it turned over. Off with the air filter and a squirt of carb cleaner down the inlet tract and off it went, for as long as the carb cleaner lasted. It'll need the carb and fuel tank cleaning or replacing.
And I'll need to find another recoil starter that I can bodge onto my generator.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Washed the bike, cleaned and lubed the chain.
Then went to get the tool kit from under the seat to adjust the chain only to discover there wasn’t one there.
Well I’ve only had the bike 18 months
I’ll just get a chain adjustment tool off eBay as I’ve looked at a secondhand toolkit and it looks typical manufacturers rubbish.
I can get a better aftermarket item than the original Triumph one for less money.
