Re: GSXS 1000 - Mofo's Gixxus
So I've not needed to adjust the chain yet due to a combination of services and tyre changes, but it now needs doing. Manual says 2-3 cm and I'm on 3 so not terrible but thought OK go and do it. First problem is my paddock stand is fubar so I need a new one. Second and bigger problem is the nut is a 36mm and my biggest is 32, Doh!
So off to Halfords tomorrow to get one and I also need a paddock stand. Might just get the Oxford one from SBS but bit worried the handle will foul the massive plate holder, will see if I can find out.

Very possibly I've not even opened it not sure how it'd fair against 100nm axle nut. Reckon I'd still be better off with a proper socketKungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri May 19, 2023 8:47 pm Is there not a 36mm spanner made of cheese in the bike tool kit?

Re: GSXS 1000 - Mofo's Gixxus
My brother was popping to his mates in Watford to help him load up North Coast 500 routes onto his TomTom so I tagged along as nothing on. Coffee and Sat nav sorted we went in a very roundabout route to near Cuffley having a bit of a blat with no real purpose ending up at a pub for lunch. Very bloody good afternoon it was too. Been ages since I've just ridden with some mates for no real purpose other than for the fun of it. Bike is still a bit minging but kinda of liking the lived in look at the moment with the added benefit of not worry about muck in the road. Weather seems to have finally turned though so once washed it'll hopefully stay decent for a little while.

Re: GSXS 1000 - Mofo's Gixxus
Due to a combination of weather and being away/kids I've not done anything with the GSXS recently Last time I rode it was to work the other week and it was still bloody cold in the morning.
Washed the bike last night, dried it and then took it out for a very quick spin to clear the rest of any lingering water out. Surprised, although perhaps I shouldn't be, how much water lingers in the rad fins. Anyway it's nice and clean now except the chain which will get a seeing to once my new can of lube arrives. Whatever lube the dealer used was bloody horrible. Flung everywhere on the ride home and was both wet enough to fling whilst being thick black like tar. So that'll be a joy to get off but hopefully WD chain cleaner and a new brush should sort it.
Realised I still haven't fitted my screen that I bought back in January I think! I was going to fit in April when I got the bike out but didn't have any longer bolts and my mate said drop over and I never did and kinda forgot about it. Only reason I was going to use longer bolts is the Puig frame uses the OE bolts to attach the screen fame to the clocks frame. I'd read on the GSXS forum/youtube that the OE bolts whilst they work need a fair amount of force to locate as there is extra frame in the way. I'd prefer to use a longer bolt as then can make sure it doesn't cross thread. So will pop to my mates one evening. I should have just picked some up but I'm lazy and forgot
Weekend is looking decent in the morning and the kids are at scouts/cubs camp so plan on getting out somewhere for a long ride Sat. Not sure yet. Might head Manningtree way again or similar. Fingers crossed!

If you're heading to Manningtree let me know, I should be free on Saturday and I've got a shiny (literally) Pirelli Angel that needs some use.

Re: GSXS 1000 - Mofo's Gixxus
Fitted the screen this afternoon. Looks alright I think. Only went for a very short ride so hard to know yet how much it'll do but I think enough, hopefully!
Going out tomorrow so should know then
Still thinking of heading Manningtree way I think as long as the thunderstorms stay where they are supposed to. If you're still up for it @Le_Fromage_Grande I'll drop you a PM. I think I'm probably gonna leave here 8ish and head for the Crown I think it is, they seem to do breakfasts, and then from there head up to Long Melford before heading home. Need to check the route again but reckon it'll take a couple of hours maybe to get to Manningtree as I'll go through Finchingfield, Castle Hedingham, Sudbury type way.

The screen should take the bad look off the rack and topbox.

It's light smoke, but in the pics looks completely clear. Either way if it does the job I'll be happy

I'll be out and about tomorrow morning, I'll keep an eye on my phone, no reason I can't head out Sudbury way.
