I've a feeling I might want to put some modern suspenders on it before I chase more powah!

For that price you could have got one with more power and modern bits.

But it wouldn't be an oil cooled GSXR1100!

It's a scratch I need to itch.

I might hate it, but I might not :)

There's nowt wrong with the original suspension, it's the top heavy, stupidly powerful engine that upsets the handling.

It's almost 30 years old!

I'm obviously gonna ride the hell out of it before I spend any money. IF it's a keeper, it'll get the finest quality parts known to man :)

Hasn't it done some pathetic mileage, like under 15,000, the fork oil isn't going to go off with age, it's not a fine wine, and the same goes for the rear shock, the suspension is actually very good for an early 90s bike, at most the forks will want a revalve, and maybe you'll need a rear shock.

I rode one in the mid 90s when I weighed 10 stone, the suspension was over sprung for my puny weight.

Ride it and see what you think, but it's never going to handle like a Fireblade, my over riding memory of them is that they didn't want to turn, this could be due to the longer swing arm Suzuki fitted to tame the Killer K reputation, though I thought the K was alright, like any GSXR1100 you had to treat the throttle with respect.

I had a 98 Fireblade.

I threw a serious amount of money at it. It handled jolly well. That was 20 years ago.

Nowadays I think my bog stock 98 K1200RS handles really well, the GSXR can't be any worse.

I haven't ridden a K1200RS so I can't compare them, but the Slingshot 1100s are safe handlers, they're slow steerers, which is no bad thing as the weight is high up, I don't think one would be much fun round Cadwell, but at Snetterton you'd have a grin like a Cheshire Cat.

I'm only going to ride it to Squires every sunny Wednesday evening and let all the passers by tell me how mint it is while drinking a £1.50 instant coffee that tastes like shit.

Proper biker stylee.

It'll be an old git magnet, every one of the boring twats will tell you how they owned one back in the day and that it's a man's bike that nearly killed them, not one of the stupid fuckers will ever have ridden one.

At least that's my experience of owning old bikes, I must have met every former Z1100R owner in Suffolk, even though none were ever sold new here.

It's insured!

I was a naughty boy. I didn't take the Guzzi off the multibike policy (yes yes I know).

The cost to upgrade the Guzzi to the GSXR for the remaining 8 months... £45.37 and £20 of that is the admin fee!

Arranged to pick it up as soon as they open at 9am. There's a 30% chance of rain and thunderstorms according to the BBC :(

I'm home, got to shoot out to get my 2nd jab now, might write some more while I'm stood in the queue.

BTW, it's ace. I was stood at some lights and a woman in a car going the other way stopped, rolled down her windows and shouted how awesome my bike was!!!

I was at Oulton Park BSB last weekend & took a photo of a early GSXR1100 that was parked there.I uploaded the photo to FB & got a surprise at how much interest there was in this photo of a GSXR1100,they seem to attract a lot of interest.
