A profession team representing their country bringing a political protest banner onto the pitch. Really?

Face it- England lost, so we’ve got to give the Maldives to Argentina.

Their vice-president was worse

After Wednesday's victory, Argentina vice-president Victoria Villarruel posted on X, external, writing "it wasn't just another match" alongside a video of what appeared to be Argentine soldiers.

"The Falklands are Argentine," Villarruel posted. "They banned bringing them to the stadium and forgot that we carry them in our blood and our hearts."

In the build-up to the game, Villarruel had said the semi-final was "about putting the invaders in their place".

Don't give them the Maldives, I like it there. They can have the Falklands though

I remember the first Falklands war joke.

The Irish SAS have just invaded Falkirk.

Ok, it was funny then 😉

Add Spain and Portugal to that list.
And the Italians!
Whole of south America as well.
You might as well include the rest of the world. We know Johnny Foreigner always cheats. The English always play with a straight bat. Which, admittedly is cricket so that's probably why we lost at football. ;)

The England team should have kicked the football better than the other team kicked the football. Then they would have won the game of football.

Pah! It's way more complicated than that.

The England team should have kicked the football betterer than the other team kicked the football into the net at the other end of the field. Then they would have won the game of football.

I know way more than the current England coach, Mr. Ted Lasso

I'll have you know I'm a single parent at the moment, with Mrs. G on holibobs with her dad and sister in Skiathos. I barely had time to watch anything what with the domestic chores, cooking me tea, walking the mutt, sweeping the hearth, scrubbing the front step, etc., etc.

I've got housemaid's knee.

Britain did that in 1982

Given the totaly boring football that England played in the last 3 or 4 games I am not surprised. If I wanted to see 3 or 4 blokes kicking a ball sideways to each other, and then giving it back to their own goalkeeper..............

I won't watch it, but the players will still love playing for their country.
A few might get their first game.

Yup, I'm not gonna bother watching, who cares. Plus I can't imagine the players, peeved as they are and thinking of nothing but a holiday are bothered either.
