What a difference the new chain has made!!

Last a lot of the graunching and vibes I was getting and the DCT appears to be changing smoother too!?? Best £62 I've spent in years!
Re: the old chain; I've never known a chain to go from okay to total shite in such a short amount of time??? That said I don't even think its an o or x ring chain?

POS didn't start this morning!?

Battery (2 month old Motobatt) was flat as a Witches tit (0.9v) !?

I still had the old Varta battery which was still charged up so put that in and got into work okay. No idea if it'll start again later though.

The only thing I can think that would have drained it is the heated grips. They are supposed to be intelligent and turn themselves off if you forget to do so, which I may have?

I had the the Oxford grips that were supposed to turn off when the voltage dropped below a certain amount on my NC700X.
Yes they turned off... after the voltage had dropped to low to turn the bike over!
On my old Varadero I made up relay harness for all the accessories that was switched from the front pilot light (or you could use the horn), I know nothing about sparks and even I found it easy to do.

I disconnected everything else that was connected to the battery so they aren't working at the moment. I'll run it for a week or so to see if it happens again and if it doesn't i'll assume it was the grips and do what you did.

Do you happen to have a SatNag mount or USB socket that's hard wired to a permanent live?
Had the same on my Trumpet and it was the USB socket slowly draining the battery.

Well after leaving it for 48 hours it started fine and the battery threw teh engine over as normal without a hint of struggling. Also, the opitmate recovered the motobatt to a normal state. So, I'm going to blame myself and the oxford grips for being left on. I'll sort out a relay connection for them later on a they aren't needed at the moment.

Had a bit of a starting issue over the last couple of months. Or, more accurately put, not starting. I'd push the button and it'd not start. Nothing, but also the gear indicator would flash with a flat line like this - ? I thought it might be the infamous shifter pin that affected a few of the 700s, but one time I pushed it out of the bike park and over to the kerb and thumbed the started as I was pushing it and it fired up?
A longer story shorter is it looks like it could be the side stand switch. I thought i'd bypass it to confirm it, so I took the sprocket cover off as the wire disappears behind that and joins others and I needed to know which one was which. For a clean and seemingly well looked after bike I was surprised, nay fooking shocked, to find the mass of clogged up grease behind there that I did.

It had also spread down and was clogging up the whole side stand operation and gunged up the side stand sensor! I assume its a hall type sensor so it may have been interrupting the signal? I've cleaned about a cricket ball side of grease away from those locations now and I'll run it as is and see how it goes. Getting to the connector means removing more panels than a bastard sports bike!

So I'm in no rush to do that!.
That aside, its been running well and averaging 72mpg. Tyres are squaring off now and it'll need and get new rubber before winter. But, overall its done exactly what I wanted from it and done it very well too. Can't see it going anywhere anytime soon anyway!

I cleaned out massive globs of chain lube from whatever tar like abomination Jim Aim put on the chain. And that was from them lubing it once! So I can imagine pending what the previous owner did/didn't do you could end up with loads of shite built up. Let's hope that sorts it.

Well it looks like its Good Night Vienna for the NCX.

I have arthritis in my left knee and am finding it hard to weight bear on , especially if I then swivel on it to cock my leg over the bike to get on or off it. I actually dropped the bike on me the other day as my knee gave out and ended up with the bastard thing on top of me on the front lawn!

Shame as this really hit the spot for my commute. Back to a scooter I reckon as the knee wont get any better, only worse, and I'm a few years off of a replacement knee. Ho hum!

My pal swears by fenugreek seeds. He couldn't walk for months. Nearly sold his bike and the bar they own.
2 weeks on the seeds and he's like a puppy. Still going well 6 months later.

I tried everything with my other knee when that one went. Now I've had my x-rays back I have found out i have it it in my knee and both hips and a " large plantar calcaneal spur" on my heel for added insult!
