Nah, they'd not have piston marks if they were

Today it was time for a clean up of the brake calipers and a change in brake pads as they were proper fooked

Image
Damn - those pads look like something that would have come off a bike I owned!! LOL
Funny - I thought they looked pretty clean...

(mind you - I can't see the thickness left)
Aaaah - they are the other way around!! See, this is why I eventually bailed on doing the Monster!! LOL

Easy mistake to make given the OP is a sweaty and it is rumoured that copper wire was invented after he and his brother argued over a penny...

Not today, but at the weekend, me and the Mrs. went to the Turkish place the Gremlinette has secured herself some employment as a waitress, just to sample the falafel and hummus, which were very good. We were sat outside (obviously) which gave me the chance to observe the indigenous wildlife of Orpington High Street. Within a few minutes I was struck by the peculiar gait I was observing, which I have christened 'The Orpington Waddle', a means of perambulation utilised by those of a particular heft, of which there were many.
It's a slow means of motion, using a pained waddle and exaggerated hip movement, presumably because those using it were too heavy to use a normal human walking gait. It also requires a sort of backward lean, presumably to stop the belly pulling them over, which I suspect may result in them never getting up again. I also noticed it caused a few of them some distress as it contributed to the dropping of food or spilling of drink by said waddlers, which many seemed to be carrying and shoving down their necks at a rate of knots.

I didnt think they were too bad given they have had 2 winters use and the caliper hasnt been off the bike since last winter.

What you can see on the back is the circle pattern of the thin metal shim that clips onto the rear of the pad ;)

LOL It took me a while to realise the pic was the back, so I'm sure the front (actual pad) is nothing like mine have been!! LOL x

First of 3 rest days so getting sorted to go to the girlfriends. Lovely sunny day, rain promised much later. Packed my bag, decided to take the bike for a nice 50 mile blast. Loaded up, quick nip to the loo, opened the front door to be greeted by tremendous rain storm!!
Oh well, still going on the bike.

When you live in a family household, or indeed on you own, tools such as these are needed. Never understood going into peoples houses and encountering a problem I can fix for them, but when asked they reply, we don't have any tools? Even if you don't use them, a mate helping you out might do.
