Last couple of enduro rides, I've picked simple routes to build myself up.
Both involved a few miles of tight mountain tarmac twisties, mainly hairpins, so it had to be done.
Full Supermoto stylee. Hard braking, foot down, wheelie out. Too much fun to describe. Fifty 2 stroke gee gees

The tyres run at 8 PSI and I was amazed at the grip of the front tyre. Ultra hard braking and decent levels of lean. At that pressure the tyre must have really deformed to grip the road.

Only problem is that the front is now shagged. It's hardly been used

Gonna need 2 new tyres tmrw

Wow... that's really ripped up. I remember much the same happening with my brother's Husqvarna 610TE.

It lulled me into a false sense of confidence, it got a bit trickier round that corner

Drove up to Saffron Waldon with the family yesterday and it was sunny and mild. There were loads of bikes out which was great, at one point I even nearly did a little biker wave till I realised I was driving a courtesy Kia Estate But there is so much salt about and signs saying more last night and no doubt tonight as well

I found it a bit too easy on a decent bike, if I took it up again I'd use a small road bike with knobblies. There's no way I'd use an adventure bike, far too heavy to drag out of the mud when I inevitably get it stuck in spindle deep goop.

For someone like myself with a casual interest in off roading,I'd choose something like a Honda CRF250. I'd say it would comfortable perform anything my meagre dirt skills would require.

The thing that has always stopped me buying one is,despite living in a fairly rural environment I don't know where the trails are,or where you can use one without trespassing or annoying people.

A CRF250 is a lot better than the MX bikes I raced in the 1980s, they really are very capable with a decent pair of tyres.

Mine had original tyres on, soon as i hit mud it turned into a muddy slick and dumped me. Held that mud too much.

Was hoping to get out on one of the bikes today, but nada.

It's still Carnival in the big city and everywhere is shut, including the bike shop who have my enduro wheels.

But new pads for Suzuki arrived yesterday so was looking forward to trying them.
Just fitted them and heavens opened again.

Normal service should be resumed tmrw.

I finally bonded with this bike after messing around with the suspension.I thought I'd checked the sag last year but I was cleaning the bike & noticed that the rear wasn't moving when I put weight on the seat .All I did was dial out the preload on the shock,it was way out,I usually only do chassis adjustments one step at a time but as it was miles out I decided to also back off the preload on the forks.I couldn't believe the difference in the handling,Before today the front end felt a bit remote & the bike dropped into corners,now it feels more like my Gen 2 bike & I'm more confident about throwing it into the corners,I've not even set the sag yet!
I'm still a bit shocked that I forgot to set the sag,feels like I've got a new bike now,roll on summer,

Have you dropped the forks a bit in the yokes too, or is that how they come?

I've not yet dropped the forks,they have clip on's above the top yoke but I fitted a top yoke conversion & somehow forgot to get around to doing the sag
I was going to drop the forks through the yokes slightly to try & get a better feel from the front,looks like I've saved myself a job for the moment

Sunday was too good to miss here, even considering I haven't got around to a quick oil and filter swap yet.
First ride since last September and the old girl didn't disappoint, started and ran as if it was out the day before.
Lovely to get back out for a few hours.
Don't want to tempt fate, but it looks like the oil and filter will be scheduled for Saturday as Sunday looks like another good opportunity to get out.
After last year's mix of dire spells of weather, and travelling for work, every opportunity will be taken this season.

I do a little bit of ride leading when I can. Last Sunday I took a group from Rykas to Petworth, Dunsfold and back to Rykas. I don't tend to take many pictures these days as I CBA to get my reading glasses out of my bag So, I purchased these.

Just put new pads in front so picked a quick route to bed them in.
Wowsers. I'd forgotten what a great bike this is.
Suspension is sublime.
Steering and handling so light.
Brakes are bonkers.
Engine is even more bonkers
Fairing is ace. 130 cruising no problems.

Puddles are an exciting novelty here
