6 points on my license for speeding and having a Beirut post code probably...
Is that what you got just for speeding through the Blackfriars underpass?
I've noticed an increase in speed traps recently - three days on the bounce there was a bicycle cop with a speed gun positioned on the Old Kent Road as you approach Bricklayers from the New Cross direction and then yesterday there was a motorcycle cop sitting on the opposite side of the road. Very easy to creep above 20mph.

No I got a driver's awareness course for gapping that Policeman! This was for a cop hiding in Sugar Quay getting you as you went away from him (I didn't know they could get you both ways), I blatted past a car pulling in front of me, but he didn't see that bit, just clocked me (literally) doing 42 in a 20 mph limit! 6 points and £810 fine later and of course the increased insurance policies prices. I guess i'll have to answer to myself for that one!
They are often lurking in various places on upper and lower thames street and the victoria embankment especially!

... until you need to stop. It's a popular mod to fit a Honda TLS brake/front wheel... which the one in the pic looks to have.
It used to be that poor braking was a self-created, self-perpetuating, myth.
Because the tyres from new were skiddy Pneumants, riders didn't brake firmly. So the brake pads glazed = poor brakes.
Fit decent tyres (the one I used had Michelin M38s) and it was fine (for a drum).
But they were more fun if you didn't slow down, especially because it took ages to get the speed back up.
NB use of the term 'speed' is appropriate to the bike.

I didn't realise they could get you both ways. I've seen them regularly on VE, I wonder how many tickets get issued from crossing the solids there too...

I’ve got to go to FWR next Friday for a MOT - it’ll take ages.
Been reading back through some of this thread. I'm thinking of changing my Xmax 300 to a X-Adv. Was looking at going back to a bike route, but just love the convenience of a scooter. So, leaning towards this being a good compromise?
They do seem to hold their value quite well though, so will probably have to get a x-adv that's a couple of years older and a few more miles on it than my Xmax, which I'll be a bit gutted to get rid of.
Only thing that may be scuppering this is my short inside leg measurement. 30 inches, so not sure if i'll even be able to get my foot down tbh.

It’s a common complaint from owners about reaching the floor. The running board does have cuts outs if you put your feet straight down, but if you just drop them to the floor the boards push your legs out and that’s when people struggle to get their feet down.

I'm just going to have to go to my local dealer and sit on one. My lad had the adv350 which I rode a couple of times, didn't have any issues with that, but then the seat is an inch lower.
And as with all good plans, I'm now looking at a brand new 2025 model, couple of upgraded bits, mainly due to owners feedback. It also has a narrower seat, so that may well be better for foot down stuff.
Can't get a test ride anywhere though, unless I find a used one to try I guess.

There a Facebook page for xadvs. Full of the usual, my models better than yours, comments but some good chaps on there too. I think the later they get, the better they are, but you can guarantee the OEM software will have phone connectivity issues.
Do try and get a test ride on one though, as they ain’t for every one. They are very heavy but they do carry their weight low. I value them as a Superb, economic, commuter but they make sub 60bhpand that combined with their weight and low revving engine means they arent exactly the most exciting bike out there. I,m not knocking them, just saying what they are in reality. FWIW I’d have another…

Thanks, I'll try it for size. My lad had an adv350 and I rode that, so I expect it'll ride similar to that? My lack of leg length means that I'm looking at either the x-adv or now also the Forza 750 as they're based on the same underpinnings.
I sort of wanted the funky styling of the xadv rather than sticking with the scooter styling.
I'm not that worried about the lack of hp's, my XMax is currently running at 27bhp I think
Well, quick trip to one of my local bike shops. Saw a 2017 X-ADV which was more than a bit used!!
Made the fatal mistake of asking if they were getting in more of the 2025 or 2026 x-adv models in soon so I could have a sit on. Turns out they had a demo 25 model in black with 325 miles on the clock. Sat on it and had no issues with seat height, asked when they'll be getting more stock in, most places had told me Oct. He said that they'd just taken photos of the demo ready to sell. £2k off new price, decent p/ex on my scooter and deposit paid.
So, all being well, it'll be a HNB (scooter) to me very soon!!
