I had a classic Range Rover that did about that, it had a V8 and it wasn't a huge mumbus.

I know the Qashqai is no oil painting but a Elgrand Must find the picture. Some bloke put an Elgrand front end on a Convoy to try and cheer it up. Think he managed to turn an ugly pig into an ugly pig.

That's what I got driving slowly round town, the mpg display would show 1 if I was going fairly quickly up a long hill.
It was fine when I lived inside the M25 and everything was close by, when I moved out into the sticks £100 a week on petrol got boring quickly.

Different. Thin the latter oned get more rounded outer edge lamps what dont look as bad

You recall (or not) i bought a new battery for this 6 months back.. It seems to be fooked.

I've had a couple of instances where it seems to take a bit more time on starting, instead of first crank it's 4-5 revolutions.

Just checked this morning and when cold i've got 12.22v on it. Running it's showing 14.5v. Which i'm happy with... but overnight it's dropping too much IMO. Well, clearly it's too low.

I bought it via RAC and had it installed by them, so i'm now trying to get someone useful from there, they've logged it as a breakdown, which isn't really what i was after, esepcially as i'm no longer a member. I'm simply trying to get it done as a warranty... lets see how this goes

Have you got a obd scanner and app such as Torque? They can log a fault code if the charging system is dropping voltage during running time. Worth a look as charging faults can be intermittent and not always show with a DVM across the terminals.

So cold this morning, 12.22v.

What's wrong with that?

Is it cranking slow, or is it just taking 'more' cranks to start it?

If it's taking more cranks, it's more likely to be a fuel leaking back from the injectors (it is a dirty derv, innit?)

Mate had starting problems with his Picasso and it turned out to be a fuel filter. Despite the s/history saying it had been done, it certainly hadn't. The Mechanic told him a HDi should turn over once and fire up, if it doesn't there's a reason for it and often it's fuel and often it's because of the fuel filter. Never given it much thought until he said that and now it's something I'll make sure is changed on any diesel I own.

The alternator on my qashqai decided to die about 90k miles...Thing is, it would sometimes work and sometimes not, so it seemed like a dud battery when it was actually fine.

Same issue as when i had the other battery replaced, it then started instantly, for months....

I suspect it's the battery.

After being run it's then an instant start, it's only the cold start.
