To this add a G.P. surgery who don't know how to complete a death certificate. I would have thought it was fairly basic stuff, but the registrar had to send it back to be done again, as the doctor had put her home address on it, as well as other errors.

Can I also add 'The Cost of Everything for a Funeral'? Fuck me, they've kinda got you over a barrel. The little photo montage they have on screen during the moment of silent contemplation? £75 to you! And they call us bankers grasping bastards!

Luckily common sense is prevailing and the funeral for Mrs. G's mum is as basic as basic could get and instead of doves (£125 for the first one, £25 each thereafter) and metal plaques in the memorial garden (£250 + on going fee, paid annually) we've booked a nice pub and are putting a wedge behind the bar for people to enjoy themselves and remember the old girl fondly.

Trying to get care and treatment in place for my MiL (dementia, failing physical health, mini strokes) if a fucking joke, so much so that the wife has decided to take a 6 month sabbatical to do it herself.

that is what I tell people to do. No flowers and that malarkey, just get to celebrate their life with a few drinks and meal together and all that goes with that. Best thing to do. I did a funeral recently and was staggered by the amount of flowers and custom bouquets etc... waste of money.

With my mum's funeral, my father laid a single red rose on her coffin. Robert Burn's "My love is like a red red rose" was their thing.

Went to one a few years ago where there was a box of rose petals, so everyone could throw a handful in the grave.

Deceased's daughter threw in a rose. Not a real one, though, a wax one.

I have seen all sorts of things being placed into graves, poured, thrown, dropped, hurled and gently released. Each to their own. If it enables them in their grieving and memories and is not sacrilegious, fine by me.

Finding out that one of my brothers is blaming me for losing him a contract that he lost 100% through his own inability to run a business. I wasn't even in the country when he lost the contract! But apparently it's because I spread rumours, nothing to do with him being incapable of sticking to a quote.

Three weeks ago I had a prostate biopsy. I was expecting to hear the result after about 10 days to two weeks. So when I hadn't heard anything by Monday this week I tried phoning. After navigating the answerphone menu I phoned the appropriate number: "This mailbox is full".

Forget the NHS. It's broken. It's fucked. It simply doesn't work anymore. My Step Mother had dementia and got sepsis. Paramedics sent her into hospital, who said she was end of life and sent her home again, saying the district Nurses would deal with her pain management. They didn't. Her carers were outraged. I was outraged. I left her wincing with pain at every movement. In the morning I returned to find her dead. She'd always wanted to die at home, so at least I achieved that for her. I doubt she'd ever expected to die in such abandonment and pain though...

That might be true, but we're already being forced to pay for it to the tune of about £3,000 or more each per year. Some of us can't afford to pay twice.

That might be true, but we're already being forced to pay for it to the tune of about £3,000 or more each per year. Some of us can't afford to pay twice.

If you get hit by a speeding car (or fall off a motorbike) near a major trauma hospital the NHS is wonderful. If you need immediate lifesaving surgery to sort out those injuries the UK NHS is probably the best place in the world to get them sorted.

However if you have something painful, debilitating or life limiting (but not that urgent), best fall ill somewhere else.

In the last 20 months, both Filly and i have had major surgery (me neurosurgery, her TKR). In both cases, given the additional workload of covid, we were surprised how soon they were arranged.

Having had a hearing appointment that I was able to set via an online portal changed, but they phoned me to say it has changed and are surprised when I tell them I cannot hear what they are saying on the phone. So around the circles we go and I refuse to give personal details to people phoning me. So they emailed me, and lo and behold, set an appointment right in the middle of a pastoral meeting that I have arranged. So I have emailed back to say, no go, give me a link so I can book an appointment that suits my schedule...

I'm really pissed off!! An existing cap, one of my canines so quite obvious, broke yesterday while I was enjoying some homemade chicken liver pate with some fresh baked, crunchy French baguette. I found some old tooth fix stuff here and while trying to stick it back in, it fell out and went behind my Mum's built in dressing table. I was shaking like a leaf trying to get it out before it dropped between the wall and the floorboards, disappearing until it's dug up by archaeologists in a thousand years time. I manage to get it after half an hour and using several kitchen tools - I washed off the brick dust, but I can't save it. The tooth underneath is broken. I've a feeling an implant is going to be my only option, but I'm not a dentist. We know how much implants are I booked myself into the local implant clinic on Friday morning.

So, I point blank refuse to smile or find anything amusing. In fact, I'm just not going to talk to anyone (apart from my Mum) until it's sorted. Feeling ugly and talking with a lisp now. <-- I wish this was me.

I have a front one missing (1st lockdown) then a side one fell out almost a year later (2nd lockdown) Fist was taken out in favour for a plate what i just got before lockdown. Plate was a shit fit but i was persevering but little did i know it was pushing the other crown out. Now i look like a hill billy Is it still £2k per tooth as i dont fancy a plate TBH

I believe it's between £1500 and £2000. I have a recommendation for a good dentist in Budapest who is a lot cheaper. I was thinking of going there before covid hit.

Now, ill be passing down that way next year (Slovenia) Better start saving now. Saying that ill be coming up 60 then so the rest may have fell out by then anyway

I once needed a cap and dentist said it would be £500. I asked who would make the cap. They used Penny's brother. So I went direct and got it free.
Then got the dentist to fit it
