On my list for today is a cheap & cheerful SV650.
I've been interested in trying the Suzuki 650 Vtwin for a while so I'm going to look at a used one for the right price.I'll ride it for a few months then either sell it, or sell my Street Triple,then get another bike I'm interestd in,MT07,Enield Interceptor, Himalayan, Honda 500X.
The only Vtwin I've ridden was a Ducati 916,not the ideal choice for the country lanes around here, I preffered my FZ750.
I think the SV650 should give a less intense ride

Cracking bikes and due to the mini twins series you can get just about every upgrade you could ever want for them. Its not unusual to find one with fully sorted suspension etc. I've had a few (3 or 4) of them and enjoyed all of them. Great b-road bike.

Hopefully in an hour I'll be in Welwyn testing the Blue Tracey and the white red GSXS thou they have.

Pending that I may well be asking if you could go to Blade at somepoint and check on the Green Tracey for me. Please.

The Tracer at Blade looks better value but bit far for a first test of a bike. Plus I prefer the colour of the one in Blade

Prefer the looks of the surprisingly non garish Suzuki to the Tracer, but the £300 melting headlight issue is something i'd need to know more about?

Tracer -much preferred it to the MT. Not sure if there was something wrong with that MT but felt like I was riding around its foibles and torque. The Tracer felt more together. Throttle really smooth, nice power, handling was good and it was very comfortable. Only had a short 15 min ride following bloke from the shop. Felt like mine in riding position but faster. Only got to nail it in 2nd once and felt plenty exciting enough albeit not as lairy as the MT.

Swapped to the GSXS. Much smaller, high ish pegs, lower, narrower bars. Pull away and its IL4 natural, so easy to ride. Best way to sum it up.


OMG THIS IS FUCKING MENTAL

Handling was great much better than the MTs like a comfy sportsbike with softer suspension. Felt much more together and natural. In 15 mins I was more at home than the MT after an hour last week. Throttle was very on/off at low speed in 2nd/3rd but in 4th at 2k rpm its as smooth as you like. Then open the throttle and we did a speed with a 15 in it and I realised I was still in 3rd.

Got back to the shop and couldn't stop looking at the Suzuki and spent the drive home Babbling about it to my brother.

So.

Tracer very nice. Like it would be better for long ride.

GSXS 1000. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Mental.

Currently heart is very Suzuki shaped.

I've just been looking, they did them in the Phantom scheme the GSXR got, which looks pretty good.

It's a shame all Suzuki owners are wankers.

Take the wind breaker off and put a sports puig on the tracer and it a cracker. Better for long journeys, and maybe short journeys.

I think after riding a 70bhp Katoom for so long he's been seduced by the power of the darkside.

Gonna have a good look at Suzukis I think. From what I can see the one I rode is about right price wise but I'd rather have one with less miles if I can. I also love the red and white.

For a grand more I can get a new one! But it's another grand

Part of me says don't get a thousand cos of my usual thoughts. But of the 2 bikes the Suzuki definitely wow'd me and that's what bikes are about after all.

To be fair it's the handling and togetherness of the GSX as much as the power.

That's a no brainer. Get the new one.

You'll be the only owner, you'll know how it's been treated from new and it'll have a manufacturer warranty, all that piece of mind is worth a bag of sand.

£8K for a brand new one, get it bought.

For me the choice would be a no brainer but i dont know how tight or not your finances are

A grand more gets you a brand spanker with some factory warranty and dealer backup and more importantly 1 mile on the clock. For a grands difference i wouldnt be picking the 17000 mile bike despite the paintjob being better.

My lad was in the same boat a couple of weeks ago looking at 6-7 year old bikes with mileage between 5000 and 15000 miles. He upped his budget 2 grand to get an 18 month old bike with 1000 miles on the clock, a 12 month warranty and its the latest model with all the toys on it....... in Black as well
