Actually putting the keyring up is about the limit for Mrs D.

Its fair to say her Dad was 'into' Lightnings. He worked on em for three decades in the RAF and then nearly another three with the Lightning Preservation Group at Bruntingthorpe, of which he was a founding member. Mrs D spent much more of her childhood than she would have liked around them. :D

I used to go into and out of Bruntingthorpe fairly frequently. Took swmbo'd one day and the nice man took us into the ganger and showed us the vulcan. In the car on the way home she said..was that a passenger plane?

There's a children's book about Lightenings, I read it at school.

The only part I can remember (we're talking over 30 years ago), was one of the main characters mates reckoned he could tell a car by its engine noise, but failed miserably.

Strange the things you remember.

Not so much happy, but leaving me with a bemused smile.....

My 11 year-old nephew's hair was running rampant so I offered to use my clippers on his head last week. He agreed, but two swipes up with the clippers (with a thankfully quite long guard on), he jumped up and changed his mind and steadfastly refused to entertain the idea of me carrying on. Now I ain't no Vidal Sassoon, but I suspect my finished attempts would have looked a lot better than the mess that is the half-finished left-side of the rear of his head, which he seems quite content to leave as a 'work in progress' until the hairdresser opens up again.....

No loss to me.

I have a colleague who is also a pretty good keyboard player in a band. I Skyped him today re a work question and we got chatting. Behind him is his keyboard set up and, as the conversation meandered, I recalled the time I went to a fancy dress party as Larry Blackmon from that's 80's band Cameo. Without a word he spun around on his chair and belted out the opening bars to Word Up, Cameo's best known song, spun back around with a great beaming smile on his face.

We both cracked up.

Been using a local two-man garage for years. Always had excellent service.

Need a car service & MoT.

Phoned, no answer. Sent a txt message to one guy's mobile, no reply.

Nipped down there today, Vodafone have cocked up their phones. Car booked in. Didn't want to try and find another garage.

Longitude and latitude make a lot of difference. I'm losing because of the latter now but the equinox is approaching and then it's all gravy until the solstice.

Only the latter AFAIK?

It surprises me every year when it's still light at 22:00 in June. I have no idea why, it's like clockwork - only more accurate :D

Longitude because of the time zones. I'm about 30 minutes later than GMT here, seven and half degrees west, skub is, at a guess, about ten, and yorick a bit further out again.

Ah right yeah.

It's always pretty much bang on the 'right' time here :D Less than 1 degree west.
