What's really fucked me off is the local landowner has decided to downgrade a licensed bridleway to a foot path, put up a load of kissing gates, which means that most of the local MTBers will have ride a narrow cut through road for two miles to access the Downs rather than safely across two fields.
If it is a proper bridleway he can't legally do that, only the Local Authority can change the category. Complain to the LA.
Bastard landowners think they own the place.
It's a licensed route, which is what used to be called permissive I believe, it's been a bridleway for at least 20 years but the grumpy fucker has decided it's now going to be a footpath only. LA and South Downs NP have just rolled with it so I've moaned at my MP but don't suppose it'll get anywhere. This has so fucked me off.
BBC today, any use?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60418555
A deadline to register forgotten historical paths in England by 2026 is set to be scrapped by the government.
There was a cut-off to apply to record rights of way through private land which existed before 1949 but did not appear on official maps.
Campaigners said the change meant important and useful paths could be "protected for future generations".
The government said it was introducing measures to "enhance the way rights of way are recorded and managed".
Using historical evidence, people are able to apply for rights of way which have existed in the past to be added to official maps, giving them legal protection.

It gets better, the RoW team washed their hands of it and directed me to South Down NP Authority who told me that the work was funded by them and Defra under the Farming in a Protected Landscape policy. Upon reading the policy document it appears they've contravened two of the main points of the scheme, increasing/maintaining access for diverse users and decreasing carbon emissions (more people will have to drive with their bike to access the Downs).
I've also pointed out to them that the farmer has also thrown up the gates, not taken down any of the bridleway signage, not dealt with a dangerous tree over one of the gates, the 75m of path that is overgrown and blocked by fallen trees and the metal stake that is sticking out of the ground that is an impalemnent hazard next to the path. So I'm awaiting a response........

What everyone knew but no-one considered was that what the hundreds of millions that it costs meant that every cunt and his wife now sits in lane three passing no-one at 4 mph below the speed limit passing no-one on the inside two lanes. So with our ridiculous traffic laws you've just created miles of expensive, empty tarmac and a lot more pissed of drivers who want these fuckers out of the way!
Those pissed off drivers should simply use the empty lanes and ignore those cunts in lane 3.
They don't need to 'undertake' they just tell plod that they were travelling at the same speed as the cunt in lane 3 but ended up in front of them when the cunt slowed down a bit.
it's not fuckin' rocket science (although it is a bit of fizzicks.)

Plumbing.
Got a shower that drips. No problem. Isolate, take apart, get new ceramic valve cassette thing and fit, sorted......
....The isolating valves are on the other side of the wall...in the garage. Shift a couple of hundredweight of stuff and shut the isolating valves. Screwdriver in place, turn. One sodding valve leaks. Need an isolating valve on the isolating valve?

Stopped it leaking but ordered a couple of replacements/spares along with the tap valve. Ho hum. Ready to fix when Screwfix ping me that the order's ready.
The best thing is, thanks to a storm 2 days ago....the water supply has gone off again.

Next you'll find the isolation valve is leaking because someone has done the fitting up far too tight and deformed the pipe, I was really pleased to find that when I replaced the knackered gate valve on my cold water tank.

It's odd. The cold supply, 1/4 turn and off. The hot will keep turning and leaks around the screw head. Left it in the off position ie screw slot horizontal, wiped it and it stopped. Will see what happens when I turn it back.....and the water supply comes on again later this pm. I have spares with a handle on like they fit to washing m/c supply.
(Just picked up 8 large bottles of water from 1 of the 10! Thames Water people staffing the bottled water supplies at the local car park).

Well, the shower mixer all went back together pretty easily. As the tap valves come in pairs I replaced one in the sink mixer tap too. All isolators now in the open position.
While at Screwfix I thought I'd get some plumber's gel just to give o-rings a helping hand. It's an 800g tub. No worries thinks I, it'll last years. Ha! 'Will store for 12 months once opened'. I'd need to do 150 taps a day to get through it. It says it's OK for drinking water fittings...but contains something that may cause skin rash.
Now just need to wait for the mains water to come back on...with fingers crossed.

Or for a bit more fizzicks, when the road curved to the left.

Well - the MISuse of bastarding fog lights
Yes, it's raining. Yes, there is spray on the route national. Yes, it looks a bit like mist. But it ISN'T!!!! There is no fog, cloud or even mist on this road
FFS!!
I sometimes think fog lights should be banned cos they are blooming 'orrible when used incorrectly!!

Bagpipes on TV, they are the Scottish version of a football chant and always sound terrible.

Dyneema from a climbing shop, should be able to find something the right thickness, lasts for ages, downside is you might not like the colour

TBF, that particular car went a different way!! By the time I was driving home, the traffic wasn't too bad, but it was still 50/50 on who had the right tyres and who didn't

Brake dabbers.
Stuck behind a Merc estate (E220D) today for long enough for the model type to be engraved on my brain. I even remember half the registration.
Every slight curve in the road...dab. Every vehicle coming in the opposite direction...dab. Occasionally, just for the hell of it...dab.
(I was not breathing down his neck so this wasn't a tactic to get me to back off, it was like he needed reassurance that the brakes worked - every 30 seconds).
Approaching a set of temporary traffic lights, they changed to green...he slowed almost to a halt.
I don't get wound up by other drivers any more...ommmmmmmm....but this bellend was driving me nuts. If I'd gone past I'd just have been in the same string of traffic. So I turned off and went the long way round.
