There's another new version popped up in the south of France. Then there's flurona, when you get flu and corona at the same time.

I would post links but I'm on a ferry to Spain and the internet on the ship is a bit slow. 🙂

I don't believe that's likely. I trust that in 3 months, 6 months, maybe 12 months that science will get a better answer.

A new Covid variant with 46 mutations has been detected in France.

The B.1.640.2 variant, named the “IHU” variant by researchers, was first spotted in southern France and is linked to travel to Cameroon, according to a pre-print study.

When we get to the UHU variant we'll be in a sticky situation.

Well that's not exactly true is it.... Things have changed, less people are sick, less people are dying. So things have got 'better' they're just not quite 'right' yet without doubt... but i don't believe for a second fuck all has changed.

We're detecting approx 200k new cases per day in France, similar in UK (can't be arsed to look anywhere else)

Hospitals haven't collapsed.
Deaths haven't skyrocketed.
The vast majority of the 'rona carriers are having very mild symptoms.

So -
- we're testing more
- the latest variants are less deadly
- all the really vulnerable people already died

All or some of the above. ?

Add to that... the vaccination helps.... maybe the vaccination has made the other variants look like they're less deadly but they're actually mostly less deadly because so many are vaccination.

I think the vulnerable people being dead already is maybe the saddest part of it all and sadly quite true as well.

gremlin wrote: Tue Jan 04, 2022 4:59 pm So how many people over Christmas do you reckon had all their plans laid out, arrangements made, etc. then thought they would do a LFT, which showed positive, then thought, 'Fuck it, I'm going anyway'?

The Gremlinette was allowed a NYE bash round Chez Gremlin. Being a sensible lass, she asked all invitees to do a test. Unfortunately one of her mates tested positive, so declined. Nice one.
It got me thinking about people's sense of responsibility, etc. Kinda makes you wonder....
Someone the Mrs knows is anti Vax and went to Butlins for NYE and now has Covid. She said on the Whatsapp group that her kids are sick but isn't testing them cos she can't see how they have it/probably had it before and is fully intending on sending them to school tomorrow as she's not having them bother her at home :hmmm:

So yeah I reckon there are lots of people with 0 sense of responsibility.

Makes me rage when we all spent best part of 26 days and Xmas isolating and someone else def has it, who's kids very probably have it and she'll happily let her kids spread it with 0 fucks given. :angry-cussingblack:
Report her to the school.

Honest question. If they've developed all these clever vaccines, how come there's no clever cure?

There's no 'cure' for any viruses. From the common cold through to HIV.

We could maybe ask the Chinese to stop producing them . . .

Which brings up a question. Why did this exist in the first place ? Sure i understand it's generally accepted it came from a lab in China now. But was this lab looking to help something ? Create a cure for something else and it went wrong ? Or we they actually seeking to create deadly viruses ?

Or at least that what the six-year old outside the school gates said to me when I told him to stop smoking.

Hard enough getting the knuckle-draggers to have an injection, let alone stem cell surgery.....
