Your date of 5th January is consistent with what some of stepson's pals who work in govt depts are saying that the leak down from Cobra meetings is 5th January.

Edit: Also heard that Surrey Constabulary in Guildford have been given the same date but if the 'spike is really bad' will be brought forward to 1st January.

Yeah, they've happily taken 600 quid of our money. Its pointless even considering paying for a date change in the current climate.

Airlines are ruthless and the airports are the same, they've lost so much money that there is no mercy.

I do get that, but Ryanair wanted 180 quid in admin fees to change the dates, on top of any difference in price. Given the flights were c. £270 it's not worth it. Add in the £360 in testing that we would have had to fork out for 3 nights in Italy, with the hassle of the new 'Super Green Pass' out there had we decided to go regardless....
