Just watching the news and they're commenting on the Met Police's failings that ultimately led to Sarah Everard's death at the hands of Wayne Couzens! His attitude to Women was so bad colleagues nicknamed him The Rapist! There were allegations of indecent exposure. He was a part of a "WhatsApp group involving police officers now under investigation over alleged misogynistic, racist and homophobic messages"! Flew under the radar? Was the fecking thing even on!

GB number plate sticker no longer valid abroad

British motorists driving outside the UK must now remove old-style GB stickers or cover them up.

Instead they should display a UK sticker or have the UK identifier on their number plate.

The UK government guidance has been in place since Tuesday 28 September.

The new rules state that any driver with a GB sticker on their car now needs to replace it with a new UK one if they are taking their vehicle abroad.

The GB sticker has been displayed on British drivers' cars for 111 years and been valid for cars from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.


And before anyone starts frothing at the mouth about bloody European bureaucrats -

The move was only revealed by the United Nations which said it had received "a notification stating that the United Kingdom is changing the distinguishing sign that it had previously selected for display in international traffic on vehicles registered in the United Kingdom, from 'GB' to 'UK'".

Probably won't make a huge amount of difference, but I thought you ought to know.

Not exactly today's news but, the fertiliser companies that closed down because gas is expensive, so no CO2? Apparently, unlike the energy companies that are going bust, they hedge/buy forward their gas. So when prices went up....they shut the plants and sold the gas options 'cos that was more profitable. So, yup, they closed because gas was expensive.

Oh yeah...so fertiliser price has gone up, so food will go up. Strategic thinking!

Radio 4 mentioned that as the largest percentage of slaugherhouse workers were foreign and as they've gone some pig farmers aren't getting their pigs slaughtered so were having to cull the pigs and render the carcases down.

A tanker driver has told how he was tailed by about 20 drivers who were dismayed to discover he was not transporting petrol.

Johnny Anderson, who drives for Weaver Haulage, was transporting 44 tonnes of mortar from Bilston, Wolverhampton, to a building site in Northamptonshire.

When he reached his destination, he saw a line of traffic backed up behind him.

It's the biggest investigation by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, with more than 650 reporters taking part. The BBC Panorama and the Guardian have led the investigation in the UK.

I've skimmed through it quick and I can't see where the information came from originally, but it looks pretty juicy - I wish I was shocked by the findings but it all seems to evidence what we knew already, all you need is a few million to start you off and a good lawyer who tells you it's ok.

Makes for good news in a number of countries. I'm sure Panorama equivalents in other countries will be broadcasting this collaborative effort (over 650 journos involved), even if there's no real surprises that the super-rich and corrupt politicians use immoral and/or illegal means to reduce their tax burden and rob their counties blind.

Plus it gives Bob the plumber, who likes to work a bit of cash-in-hand, something to tut about.
