Scooterism has no place on a modern motorbike forum!

NOTE.
For the purposes of this thread and other associated TiePin stuff.
'Forever' can sometimes mean as long as 11 or 12 months, but often turns out to be 3 or 4 months.

As long as there is a next it's all good.
Life's too short to settle for what's not right.

Oh. I have had mine 16 month in a week. Is that classed as forever also?

My bike ownership seems to have settled to regular change, in part. 2 bikes stay and have allocated job roles and number 3 bike is for pissing about on localish and change whenever I fancy. Well, for now anyway.

For me bike ownership is just for commuting and that allows me to keep working too, as I could no longer do the journey by walking and public transport.
For me, the At 1100 was twice the bike the 1000cc version was, and it was a bike I'd waited all my biking life to find in many ways. I just gelled with it from day 1. The riding position was so good it felt like it was bespoke. I have the DCT use down to a fine art, and 50+ mpg overall out of an 1100 twin is pretty damn good too.
I was never fan of the steering with 21/18 wheel combo and, comfort wise, the seat is one of the worst i've ever sat on! But for some reason neither really irked me like it normally would. I guess that's testament to how much I liked the bike.
Due to arthritis, my left hip is badly worn and getting on and off such a tall bike meant pivoting on the hip at such an angle it became increasingly painful to do so. I did drop it once and nearly dropped it a few times after that, culminating in my colleague catching the bike and stopping it damaging his which was parked next to mine. Phew!

I finally admitted it was time to let it go. Cracking bike and sorry to see it go, but very glad to have owner it.
NEXT!

You're mental
(actually your not, sorry to hear about your hip

)
At least you don't go through women like you do bikes, that'd be far more expensive

Possibly as taxing on the hips though!
Vespa?

To a certain degree you'll have an issue with most bikes/ scooters? Even my 300cc scooter was difficult and painful for me to get on and off. My right hip is dodgy as hell and gives me jip all the time.
My new 2025 model x-adv is actually no worse than the 300. They've made the seat narrower and the way the new ones footboards are designed, I can get my foot pretty much flat on the floor which again helps with the pain. One of the ways I've adapted is getting on the thing from the rhs, that does make it easier and less painful.

Canβt you just run at it from behind and use the pillion seat like a pommel horse landing straight onto the seat ?
