Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?

Not sure what the issue with a 'covid passport' is? It's been a necessity here since the spring/early summer. Simple and easy.

Not sure why it would be an issue if you are vaxed and want to go out? Only an issue if you don't want to get vaxed and still want to go out?

British society has always pushed back against any need for officialdom, ID cards being a prime example. Scrapped after the war they've been mooted ever since but rejected as invasive to one's privacy. Maybe the stereotype of a German asking for 'Irhe papieren, bitte' is too ingrained....

Same with covid passports. It does create a two tier society, but I would quote Freud who simply said, 'Fuck you, mate, I'm alright coz I've got mine'.

Surely though, if you wanted to go to Africa, you had to have paperwork (a card?) that showed you had had the relevant vaccines for travel there? Ok, this is more widespread, but also affects everyone, not just those that wanted to travel to SA. That was two tiered - if you didn't want the vaccine, you couldn't go there. Dont' remember any shouting about that!!

Not sure it's about the 'fuck you etc' thing - more the "we really need this over and done with and get our lives back, and vaccines are seemingly the best way"!!

Yup. With our friends in France, seated at a table outside of a cafe. Show vaccination proof before the order is taken.

That said, Foal has just tested +ve on LF. He's double vaccinated and has had covid before (he was tested for antibodies).

It's annoying that, isn't it. Me and a friend had the same, both double vaxxed and I've definitely had it before (before testing and testing for antibodies really took off here!!). But hopefully Foal will have a similar level of symptoms to us - minimal!!

The NHS COVID pass will also be required for entry into nightclubs and venues where large groups of people gather.

These are unseated indoor venues with more than 500 people, unseated outdoor venues with more than 4,000 people, and any venue with more than 10,000 people.

The passes will still work for people who have had just two doses of a COVID vaccine, although this will be kept under review.

This latest measure will be introduced in a weeks' time.

There has been ample time and opportunity available for all eligible to have their jabs. Those that have not been able to for health reasons will have to protect themselves from infection as best they can with whatever services are available.

Those who are able to have jabs but have ignored the opportunities to be jabbed over the last year will have to take their chances. I think this is about 15% of white adults, about 25% of Asian adults, and about 40% of the black adults. Why did I quote these percentages? Because you can already hear the future cries of 'racism' if/when disproportionate death counts occur in these ethnic groups.

No more lockdowns, (imo) it's finished.

Ours wasn't even mooted - there's no huge appetite to bring covid home as an early christmas gift. An xmas party with management there (because they have to be) and a gaggle of covid-denying also-rans would be a worse atmos. than any of the parties I've been to in normal times.

I think a lot of industries have seen the last of traditional xmas parties. My place has given up hiring local people (because guess what? wfh actually works and premises are expensive) so the idea of gathering a hundred+ disparate people nationally (and internationally in a lot of cases) into one spot just so that they can get pissed and fumble each other is both expensive and, er, of questionable value.

But then, I'm an unsociable cvnt - I have some colleagues who are are mortified about the prospect of never returning to the office.

We used to have a lunchtime xmas outing, which would descend into an afternoon and evening in the pub. But that had stopped a few years ago anyway.

So seems I've been ahead of the curve with testing. As Mrs and daughter had covid and son is still going to school I've been test him and I daily. So we've gone through all our LFT. Go to order some more and it seems the government has run out! Just as it tells everyone to test daily like I've been.
