Simmilar one happened in Edinburgh. Never did find out the circumstances around the accident as the old woman died before it went to court

Re: In todays news...
We had a similar event when an aged woman driver ploughed into the people waiting at the bus stop outside the local arts centre and killed an acquaintance of my wife's mother. She may have been old and incompetent but she could afford excellent legal representation. They fought tooth and nail to try to prevent her from losing her licence. To add insult to injury, the old bag was completely unrepentant and showed not the slightest regret.Yambo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 10:27 amIsn't that called the Saunder's defence?Count Steer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 6:48 amWasn't my fault, I can afford a 'good' lawyer.Yorick wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 11:27 pm UK is fucked.

I'm all for equality but it's getting daft now. They're excluding folk based on colour.
What next? Gay, black, disabled, dandruff and ugly dwarfs rights march?

Re: In todays news...
Where's the bit that says anyone not within the colour is excluded? It doesn't say that at all. The title of the meeting is Black Pride, but there are clearly whites in the photos and these sort of things are the most inclusive 'meets'/'get togethers'.Yorick wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 11:51 pm I'm all for equality but it's getting daft now. Its more about how you are reading something into nothing than the group discriminating!!
Bet not all the people that attended are gay or LGBTQ+ either

You are both right. It doesn't specifically exclude white people as that would be illegal but the title makes it clear it is not for them.Noggin wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 6:35 amWhere's the bit that says anyone not within the colour is excluded? There are various pride splinter groups so this isn't trying to be racist, it's to divide a larger group, encourage prejudices and recruit political activists.

I think there is a significant difference in perspective between a Black pride event and a White pride event.Mussels wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 7:22 amYou are both right. It's a little odd that in an effort to exclude whitey but not specifically exclude whitey that they've had to leave out American Indian, Alaskan, Pacific Islander etc. What have those poor buggers done to be left all glittered up and nowhere to go?Yorick wrote: ↑Sun Aug 14, 2022 11:51 pm I'm all for equality but it's getting daft now. Why shouldn’t some black people form up in a parade of black people?
Wouldn’t it be racist to stop them?

Just imagine the cries of "racism" if such an event was held primarily for the ~87% of the population which is not in the so-called ethnic minority groups!

New emergency alert system seemingly driven by the met office who want it to be an opt out system.
It could be useful but I expect they won't be able to resist spamming people so much that almost everyone opts out.

Re: In todays news...
The Met Office will love it, they'll give warnings of heavy rain, no rain, high temperatures, low temperatures, when to put on sun cream, when to increase hydration, ad nauseam, all of which will be attributed to climate change which is now implicitly caused by human activity on the planet. This is where the BBC, as a public service broadcaster, will try to get it's oar in.Mussels wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 8:06 pm New emergency alert system seemingly driven by the met office who want it to be an opt out system.

Re: In todays news...
It IS racist to have "Black Pride" just like it's racist to have MOBO awards. Why you might ask? Well ask yourself this, would a White Pride march be racist, even if they didn't specifically exclude 'non whites', would a Music of White Origin awards be racist?Noggin wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 6:35 amWhere's the bit that says anyone not within the colour is excluded? Black pride is just another example showing just how racist some 'non whites' are. Racism is NOT a 'white people' problem. It's a "fucking arsehole" problem !

I like how the trust tries to say it's out of context and they are offering other benefits. This would piss me of even more, I don't think I've ever heard of a company charging staff to park in its own car park so it's fucked up they think this is a perk.Pirahna wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 7:46 am A special treat for some NHS staff.
