I'll believe it when I see it in a showroom, but, and it's a big butt, it's based on the Hornet, I've looked at the Hornet and it's not got the build quality of my CB1000R.

BTW my bike is now at 15,500 miles, it's getting a service next week, when it will probably be at over 16,000 miles.

The weather has been crap so I haven't hit 16000 miles yet, fitted a new air filter yesterday, getting the air box lid (is it a lid if it's at the bottom? ) off was a little fiddly, there's a loop of wiring that got caught round one of the tags on the lid that needed to be moved, and there's a lot of wiring crammed in round the air box.
Went out for a ride today, ended up doing a 180 mile loop round Suffolk and Norfolk, Ipswich, Thetford, Mundford, Swaffham, Fakenham, Kings Lynn, Thetford, Stowmarket, Stonham, Framsden, Ipswich. Started at about 09:30, finished about 13:30, had a few stops on my way round, stopped for petrol at the same petrol station at Norton on the way out and on the way back. The roads were really nice, enough traffic to make it interesting, and then long gaps before catching up to the next traffic, busy round Kings Lynn, but it always is, lots of traffic going the other way, I assume it was people going on holiday. I've found that if I ride about 10% over the speed limit the ride is nicer than bombing about as fast as I can go, I don't get as tired and when I go flat out all I do is catch up to the next traffic sooner, but don't get to where I'm going any quicker.

With the new air filter I'm getting a 10% improvement in mpg, I was get 43, now I'm getting 48.

it First picture is of my bike and is a poor photo, second one is the same place but I'm stood just behind my bike, their taken at Wereham in Norfolk, I've been through here loads of times on the A134 over the last 40 years but never stopped in the village, today I stopped, it's a lovely village, sadly no shop and the pub was closed.

I was going to do the air filter on mine soon, it's not been changed yet and I'm at 9500 miles so probably a good time to do it. When I looked online it seems the ECU is strapped to the airbox lid so that needs removing or held out the way, will probably do the latter with a 2nd pair of hands. MPG I regularly get 50-53 but not sure if overly optimistic computer, the fact I only use E5 fuel or cos I'm a wuss. Or all 3!

Planned on a ride today but showering on and off. Yesterday would have been perfect but took my son to Duxford for the American flying day which was great so don't feel too bad. Nice mix of aircraft, 2 F35s, 1 F15, Mustang, Thunderbolt, Catalina, Saber, etc. B-17 suffered a mechanical though.

Hoping tomorrow is dry for a morning ride.

Also was thinking of taking a day off and riding to the Suffolk coast at somepoint, I'll let you know if I do, in case you're about.

I had a ride out this morning, just a short one to wear my new Dainese boots in a bit, I think I did about 40 miles, the trouble with my new boots is that they're not as flexible as the Dainese baseball type boots I have, so my ankle was aching after a little while with the extra effort required to change gear, and, yes, I'm a bit of a Dainese fan boy.

I dream of getting over 50mpg, my GSX-S 750 was a lot better on fuel, I was getting high 50s on that.
I doubt if I'll be able to do a weekday ride for a while, I've just had a week off and got another one booked for mid August doing family stuff, but I'm about most weekends.

Forgot to mention that most of the A12 north of Wickham Market has temporary 30mph speed limits and so does the road from Yoxford to Leiston, apparently it's dangerous to do more than 30mph past a solar farm construction site

Bought a Honda Alcantara Comfort Seat for it, wanted one for ages as it's a bit hard on my arse after 90 minutes of riding, but didn't want to pay the £270 Honda were asking for them, found a new one on eBay for £142 being sold by a dealer clearing stock. It arrived today, took 15 minutes to fit, but I'm too knackered to ride the bike for 90 minutes tonight, test ride and photos to follow.

The Alcantara seat in all it's glory, it's surprisingly good, it's the same shape as the original, but grippier, like a gripper seat cover on a motorcross bike. This means you slide about on the seat a lot less and your butt doesn't get the friction from this movement, as an added bonus, this makes it easier to ride the bike fast.

Yesterday it got a new rear tyre and a brake fluid refresh, been out this morning for a ride, I still think it's great and in nearly two years I've done 12,000 miles on it, I can't see myself changing it for anything else in the next year.

First time out on this year, took the day off work because I was owed a load of time for travelling to Melksham in WIltshire (opposite the derelict Avon Tyres factory), lovely weather here, about 18 degrees, took the Honda out for about 90 minutes, it's still fantastic to ride, still pulls from tickover and the seat still hurts my arse after 90 minutes.

...and it's still not as good as an 80's FZ750, right?

Errm, no, that's festering in the garage not having been ridden for at least 5 years

You bought the Homda around the same time as I bought my Zed,we've covered similar miles (26k for me) and changed the front pads at the same time.

It doesn't mean we're engaged or anything.
