£30 from Temu. A colleague reckons it’ll do the same as other more expensive makes? That remains to be seen but I’ll let you know how it works out when I suss out how to even use it!?

The only way it will be sold is for the later one cos they have cool cornering lights. But they also have the TFT screens which I don't like, so it stays! Plus I just fitted the touring screen to it today, so it's even more suitable for the job of year-round commuter!

I dont blame you!

The new screen is good. I'm tall so I still get some buffeting, but only around the top of my lid, but most of me is sitting in still air. So it should work out really well through winter. The only downside is when you're used to mostly naked bikes, you lose the sense of speed with no wind hitting you. I looked down at the speedo to see I was going much faster than I usually would on the A13. I'll have to retune myself to keep an eye out for that.

I refitted the DB killer. It was a little too fruity when opening it up and I've definitely become someone who prefers the more subtle exhaust note.

After 5 days off of the bike I was looking forward to getting back on it this morning. Suffice to say it didn't disappoint. The DCT has 3 sport modes and most favour S2 as teh default, but i found it a bit too much of a leap from D mode and it held onto thegears a bit too much. So the default was changed to S1 which is much better for my commute.

Found out something today. The Denali spotlights, which I previously thought were useless, are in fact, ahem, brilliant. They are operated by a switch on the dash and when switched on with dipped beam, they are a DLR. But, when you switch to main beam, they get about 50% brighter. How cool is that!!

My GS has the optional factory spots fitted.

I've never used them, I would prefer it if it didn't have them.

Are they not just a fashion accessory?

TBH I was going to remove the crash bars and lights to make it a bit lighter. But I'm used to the weight now and if I did drop it due to my leg, the carh bars would probably be a good thing to have. Yes, I suppose the bars and spots are a fashion accessory, but it is an adventure bike and it would have those for dark trails and never underestimate the "triangle of light"!

Okay I wont be going down any dark trails, but when there's a shitcart on the A13 I go down the back lanes, so in winter the spotlights will actually be a good thing to have!

Depends how you set them up, but most are set up to illuminate more side and foreground and infilling where the main beam hits the ground. Same as proper off-road 4x4s have masses of lights, it gives a great advantage when making your way through unpaved terrain. You won't find many, if any, vehicles that go off-road without additional lighting. But, for road use I find they're only good on unlit lanes and back roads, or annoying the fuck out of everyone else!

Are you admitting too having had a talbot sunbeam?

Mine are Denali D4 which apparently do this! They should light up the A13 nicely!

But so many have them set up to be on all the time. So on dip, they just blind the hell out of everyone coming towards them. Like when I had a BB and everyone put HID lights in the dip as well as the high beam. Totally get it for high beam, but on dip it's just anti social!!

I've been followed by a BMW GS (I only found out it was a GS when it overtook), that had about 3 extra sets of lights, all permanently on. All I could see in the mirrors was "light". Couldn't even see any part of the bike, had no idea how far away it was, couldn't even see the cars behind it (this was in a line of traffic heading south out of Guildford during the day). All the extra lights simply hid the bike and rider completely.

On the Rockster I have extra lights (Denali D2s), but they only come on with full beam, and I only really have those because the full beam is crap, and they give a better spread. The BMW GS 1150 and Rockster full beam is so shite you can't seen anything in fast corners at night.

I've had that before as well. A GS too funnily enough. I was going up the A1 stuck in traffic, I could see at all what was coming, just a wall of light.
