My Beemer is keyless, don't they do it as an option on the sports bikes?

Hadn't thought about this before but what happens to the steering lock with keyless?

(TBH it's pretty convenient when the ignition key fits the luggage, fairing cubby, seat lock etc. No chance of leaving home and finding the luggage is locked and you don't have the key, or can't get at the 'tool kit'. )

My Multi has keyless ignition, all a bit pointless IMO, TBH it's slightly annoying and I'd rather it had a conventional ignition switch to stick the key into - the fob has a spring-out key like lots of cars and you need the key to remove / lock/unlock the panniers and seat , which is good IMO, but also need it to open the fuel cap , which is bad IMO as you have to get it the key out of whichever pocket you put it in to be able to fill up- it would be much more convenient if I didn't have to ferret around in my pockets for it.
Also , the amount of times I've got my disc lock out from under the seat and left the bike keyfob sitting in the seat lock after I've walked away is scary , that probably says more about me than keyless but I don't do that on any of my other bikes with don't have keyless

P.S. You don't need the key for the steering lock, it's is electronically activated by simply pushing down on the kill switch when the bike's turned off assuming, of course, the fob is in proximity.

I was sure the multi had a keyless petrol cap, maybe its only the later ones.

Yeah, been there done that. I have done 15 miles with the key in the underseat lock once before i noticed it and also did a 30 mile trip from home to work with the key sticking out of the top box lock ffs

I now pat my pockets as soon as i start riding to make sure i feel the shape of the key in a pocket and instantly get paranoid its fallen out of a lock if i dont find it straight away .... i did put it in the small compartment on the fairing a few times but again was paranoid about forgetting it and walking off leaving it on the bike ready for nicking

My Benzo has a fob key that you put in a slot, but you have to turn it to start the engine, like a proper key.



Minds got a metal AMG badge on the back tho

I bet you can just give it a flick then let go and the engine will start. Not like a proper key where you can fuck the starter motor if you just hold it on

Which reminds me of the time my old E30 shat it's clutch oil all over the road when I was stopped at a red. Put it in first, turn the key, jerk up the road while the starter motor does the dual job of propelling the car and starting the engine...jobs a good un.

That's how you get your (old) car off the road when it breaks down, in gear and use the starter to drive it forwards

Much as I like a keyless tank cap they always fill me with dread. An old mate had a proper mini with a nice black keyless fuel cap. His engine died a very slow horrible death. We were trying to work out why it was dying, with his car parked by the side of the road at its usual spot, bonnet up, much scratching of heads and then I spotted load of empty liquorice sherbet tubes on the pavement and road right next to the back of his car………………….

Just as I thought would happen I’ve been asked to not park in the main car park at work with the bike, a little disappointed in them if I’m honest. I was parking in the boards car park before which a few complained about but I moved it from there after one of the board members got far too close to the bike, and I was finally happy with where it was now, I was no longer worrying about some cockwomble getting too close.

Fucking raging!

Their argument is I’m taking the space away from a member so I think I’ll pay for a social membership and continue to park there, see how that goes down. I mean, I take the bike to work hardly ever, when compared to the amount that I have the car then what’s the fucking problem, feel like I’m going to blow a gasket here thinking about it

I mistakenly ran a manual P38 Range Rover for a few years. The clutch had, by design, various issues which led to slave the slave failing regularly - the same trick got me home many times... : )

The last place I worked for in hungerford has a small car park that you could use if you got there early enough and everyone else had to use the public car park over the road and claim the money back. I park my bike in the car park and my boss came in at ten and suggested I might like to move my bike as it was taking up a space. There was literally nothing that that guy couldn’t turn in to a drama and/or be an utter prick about.
