Did you get drunk last year? Are you still drunk.. or did you recover?
I've not AFAIK seen any definition of 'recovered'. The medicos are still identifying and recording the long-term effects of covid. One estimate I saw was that we have more people with long covid than fatalities. Even milder cases can have effects lasting weeks (I know someone who was ill in March, not hospitalised, but was still having medical investigations in October).
Even bland can be a type of character

Other than politicizing Covid, I'm lost for an answer. Why the fuck wouldn't you want people to know how many are recovering?

Over here they're saying about 10% are what they call long haulers & the rest are either recovered (within a couple of weeks), asymptomatic or pushing up the daisies

They will get two doses, just further apart. They aren’t the only country to do this. The thinking is that it’s better to have 200 million covered to 70% than 100 million covered to 90%.

Are they wrong?
I suspect that if a Democrat does it, it is wrong
It's fairly simple:
You either take what the CDC say at face value, or you decide that the vaccination process needs to be politicized.
We had months of the Democrats stating that no one should take a vaccine based on what Trump says, go with science & listen to the CDC. Now they're saying "Listen to Biden"
It is you who is trying to politicise it.

Please answer wheelnut's above question instead of merely resorting to invective. Thanks.

California reports daily cases and keeps a running total as a whole and for each county, that's the same method as anywhere else I've seen. I don't know what you get on local telly but standard numbers are easy to find.

wheelnut wrote: Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:54 pm It’s not fairly simple, it’s a fast-moving complex situation and as such needs fast moving solutions that aren’t always set in stone. That’s what science does, it moves and changes depending on the evidence. Most countries are following the same pattern so it’s not a ‘Biden’ thing.

And it’s only you that’s politicising it.
No it isn't. We have top infectious disease experts with LA County stating that "we wont release recovery numbers because the Republicans will politicize it".. so the decided to politicize it to prevent the Republicans from politicizing it... I'd assume the State is doing the exact same thing.

If we're going with "it’s a fast-moving complex situation and as such needs fast moving solutions that aren’t always set in stone. That’s what science does, it moves and changes depending on the evidence. Most countries are following the same pattern so it’s not a ‘Biden’ thing."
Then why the fuck did the CDC (yanno, them science people) just state "we're going to hold back enough vaccines to ensure all those who got the first dose, get the second one"?
You can't have "Listen to the CDC, not Trump" & then go along with "Listen to Biden, not the CDC"
Well, if you can't trust good old Joe Biden, who can you trust?

I had a phone call from my GP's surgery today:
"Would you like to have the Covid vaccination tomorrow?"
"Is it the Pfizer vaccine?"
"Yes"
"No thinks, I'll wait for the Oxford one."
"We don't know when we'll get that one, call the surgery in a couple of weeks to see if there's any news."

It's been almost a year. I can wait another month or so to avoid being a guinea pig for the Pfizer experiment.

I live in a village. I go out two or three times a week for exercise along country roads where any people I meet are (anti) socially distanced. I don't think I'm going to catch it.

Another couple of weeks, or a month, or two months, of not going out isn't going to hurt me.

‘I didn’t catch it yesterday, therefore I won’t catch it tomorrow’. Top reasoning!

ISTR that you're married, so when your wife goes out then she could bring the virus back and infect you?

TBH I think you’re a bit of a plank for turning down the first opportunity of getting vaccinated. Principles and paranoia have a place, but weighted against a global death march - I’d take what was offered first.

Vaccines are being batched to areas. There is absolutely no assurance of when, or even if the AZ vaccine is getting to your area.

If it's the husband and wife that I think it is, this might have an interesting answer.

Maybe SLs surgery will replace the Pfizer vaccine with the Moderna one based on the same tech. :D

But yeah, you're a plank if you turn it down.

You might be right. Mrs S_L and I went to China in October 2019 intending to return in February. I came back just after Christmas because of a family bereavement, Mrs S_L is still in China having had two flights cancelled, one in February, one in November (I'm still waiting for the refund for that one). So when Mrs S_L goes out she won't be bringing the virus back here for some time.

Shit, that sucks. Hope Mrs S_L gets home sometime soonish.
