I was looking at 997 convertibles a while back. I looked again the other day and it looks like that model is starting to creep up in values? Or maybe just summer prices? 80s models seem to be going through the roof?!IccyV2 wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 9:44 am I've entered quite a lot of supercar competitions this last couple of weeks, one of my cars has shot up in price and it's nudging £200k now, within 12-24 months they'll be £250k and I'm not sure I'm happy driving that around, my mate had the exact same car and some clown ran into the back of him and totally wrote his car off and the insurance are haggling and dismissing the evidence that they were seriously appreciating in price, so he's going to lose out big.
All my cars are shooting up in value because I chose them well, so I need to put them into storage or sell and win a car in one of these competitions as my daily supercar with a NPV of £0k.
First world problems, but pray for me![]()

I think the base and S models have been fairly steady, the GT3RS is the car to have, that's the big hitter, as well as the Sport Classic that is now £350k-£400k.Taipan wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 10:13 am

The bore scoring is my main concern. I found the one below which has Hartech liners and I am a bit tempted, but the reality is I won't use it. I do more miles per year in my camper than my car, so i talk myself out of buying one. The other voice is, if it's just a toy, then why not have something like an older Porsche?IccyV2 wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 1:00 pmI think the base and S models have been fairly steady, the GT3RS is the car to have, that's the big hitter, as well as the Sport Classic that is now £350k-£400k.Taipan wrote: Sat May 16, 2026 10:13 am

I think it's just summer pricing if you're seeing them creep up.
The amount of car you get for your money on something like a convertible C2S is amazing, you'll pay £30k for a decent one, which is mind-blowing when you think the Sport Classic is essentially the same model with some tweaks and you'll pay ten times as much.
The trouble with the 997 is the electrical gremlins they can suffer from one after the other and the much fabled engine failures, which happens much less than people say but if it does fail then it's a £20-25k rebuild, so that's what's keeping prices low, otherwise they'd be twice the price.
The 996 is basically the same car with fried egg headlights and there are some bargains there.
The 911 is like nothing else and if it suits you then you're buggered because (as I've found) there isn't anything else that feels the same, you have to drive them like a motorbike, slow in/fast out, and if that really suits your driving then you're doomed to 911's or nothing really, a mid-engined Ferrari like the 458 is a nice car, so is a Lambo Huracan, but as I said if you find that you really fit in a 911 and like the characteristics then it's the only car like it and you're stuck with them as a bit of an obsession - it's the Ducati of cars, you love them or you don't get it.

fucking ugly thing thoughTaipan wrote: Wed May 20, 2026 6:07 pm Good odds for a higher ticket price and currently very undersold!![]()

The latest iteration of the ever-popular Suzuki Jimny retains all its great off-road capabilities, while also offering some updated creature comforts. We have added some larger Alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres, a snorkel, and a roof rack, meaning this little Jimny is ready to tackle some lanes, off-roading, or even just the commute. To finish off the styling, we've opted for this incredible Inozetek Khaki Green wrap to really set off the black styling bits and make the rack and snorkel pop!
Its compact size makes it feel light and playful on the road, while its serious 4x4 capability lets you leave the tarmac behind and explore places most cars simply can’t reach. Whether it’s muddy tracks, mountain roads, or spontaneous weekend detours, the Jimny thrives on the kind of journeys that aren’t planned.
The winner of this competition will also receive £2,000 towards running costs
