Made something of a name for herself in 2016 by claiming Turkey would join the EU in the next 8 years, that the UK had no veto over it, that it would put pressure on the NHS maternity services and insinuated it would lead to more criminals and terrorists entering the UK.

This is where the business model comes into conflict with right to repair. If it's you own the hardware why can't you do what you want with it? Even if that means you buy neat subscription bypass kits from enterprising people on eBay forcing the manufacturer to leave the hardware out and making all their cars more expensive.
Unexpected consequence of right to repair or a good way to force manufacturers to price more fairly and not see everything as an upsell opportunity?

Is it just me who thinks that the government calling a COBRA meeting as it's going to be a bit hotter than our usual drab summers might be a bit unnecessary? I'm reading all the warnings of impending heat doom, but I think I'd already figured than staying in the shade, drinking plenty of fluids and not running a marathon in a puffa jacket were the way to go.

Absolutely. Johnson skipped no less than 5 COBRA meetings in the early stages of the Covid pandemic, but is now making a big deal over something which he/they cannot make any material difference to. It's just window-dressing, being seen to be doing something.
