Amazon are BMP lately. Track the deliveries to the "you're the next drop" stage and then nothing other than a sorry its running later but we'll aim to deliver by 10PM message, but again nothing. Step Mother is now bed ridden and I need a over the bed table, which Amazon have failed to deliver for 3 days now. So now I'm off to queue up in Argos on a fecking busy Saturday because of their incompetence. I wouldn't mind if it was a one-off but its happening with annoying frequency lately. Also if it does arrive, they put it on the doorstep and drive off!

We have huge 'communal' bins around the village. I do have to take my rubbish down to said bins, but exercise is good and generally I can do that on the way to somewhere!! LOL

Downside is they get emptied at about 6am, but it is every day, so that's a positive!! (Downside is cos I can hear the lorry going past my place between the two main bins - it usually gets stuck on the ramp outside my place in the snow!! LOL)

Same here (unsurprisingly). Potter would lose his shit if he had to walk 100 yards to the bins, clear 12 inches of snow off them to find the lid and place the right waste in the right bin (3 of them) all while it's humping down with snow. But with his wedge, he'd be the guy paying me to do that

In a similar vein I think 'people' wouldn't be so bothered about the NHS disappearing if National Insurance got reduced too. But governments don't work like that.

On the contrary, I pay NI even though I don't need to, it comes out of my account every month, I believe in the NHS so I pay because it's a good thing.

I still pay taxes in the UK even though I get zero benefit. Not even NHS.

A few days ago I ordered something online and the seller entrusted the delivery to Yodel. I duly received an email pointing me at Yodel's tracking page where my parcel was 220 out of 288. OK, some time in the evening then. Eventually another email arrived telling me the parcel was left "in your safe place" which is strange because I've never told Yodel about a safe place. So I opened the front door, it appears that my safe place is the front doorstep. A knock on the door would have been nice, I was in all day.

It turned out that the seller had sent the wrong item so they sent sent me another parcel, also with Yodel. Today I received an email from Yodel telling me the parcel would be delivered on Monday. Then another email telling me it had been delivered and left "in your safe space" (see above). Again, not even the courtesy of a quick knock on the door before scarpering. This time I knew what to expect so I found the parcel on my doorstep. The box appeared to have been sitting in a pool of water, luckily the contents aren't likely to be damaged by water so that wasn't a problem but Yodel didn't know that and it made me wonder if they're using open pickup trucks rather than vans for the deliveries.

I remember when I used to think City Link was bad, Yodel beats them hands down.

Is it Yodel or Hermes where all the drivers are self employed using their own vehciles?

Either way, they're both shit. I won't buy stuff if its comes via either, although often you can't tell in advance of course.

Hermes drivers are good here, they pick up from the bottom of the track and text me if they leave a parcel. The website, however is shite, they have stripped out all communication systems, so its down to a snail mail to the ceo to get a refund for a cancelled delivery. And don't get me started on lost parcels.

Bloke over the road had a parcel delivered, but they wouldn't leave it on his doorstep as it's not safe. So, knowing I work from home, he asked if he could have it delivered to me instead. He had no idea what it was as he hadn't ordered anything. I said yes.

A couple of days later he sent me a text asking if the parcel had turned up. Hmmm, I went to the front door, and there it was, sitting on the step. Nobody had knocked and my front door faces the street in full view, his is a side door, not easily seen from the street, so I have no idea why it was ok to leave it on my step, but not his.

He picked it up from me that evening and still had no idea what it was (it looked like some magazines). It turned out it was his house deeds that the bank was no longer willing to store.

Anyway, my insignificant piss boiler today is Royal Mail tracking message "An update will only be provided once we have attempted delivery" in other words, we will only tell you where it is once you have it.

IIRC, '50' is applied automatically. It could have been something as simple as one HGV overtaking another, causing a temporary bottleneck of slow moving traffic as slowish lane 2 traffic drifts out to L3.

They've taken grief when not showing signs and signals when something is first reported - but they don't know exactly where it is, so instead have to blanket bomb a longer stretch.

A recent change that you might see is signs showing 'Report of ____ ' until they have confirmation of the location (CCTV, Traffic Officers, etc).

NHS Paramedics have boiled my piss tonight. My Step Mothers carers arrived tonight and found her on the floor. They aren't allowed/supposed to lift her from a fall in case something is broke. NHS paramedics refused to come out saying it's not for them to pick up people from a fall if there are no obvious signs of injury!

I think my piss might have been boiled by the carers rather than paramedics. Paramedics come out when you have a suspected something wrong, not just in case.
