Received a letter from Aviva today informing me they are sending a cheque for just over 800 quid.

Then Mrs.Skub claimed it.

Just found an MT-07 Swingarm in the loft... so i've listed it on Ebay... My loft of plenty isn't quite a plentiful as Pietins, but i find more stuff in there than you'd sometimes think.

Just e-mailed one of my colleagues over in Germany.

His auto response is just "I am on vacation, your e-mail may receive a response when I return".

I aspire to such self confidence.

Kind of a weird one I suppose but - a mate out here had a ski accident five weeks ago (well, some eejit took her out as they got of the chairlift   ) and had a suspected ligament damage. Lots of stuff that's not gone well but -

the aces thing is that I put her in touch with another mate that works in the local hospital. Also Scottish, and also had a messed up knee so understands injury as well as the processes!

G now has all the images of MRI and CT and an appointment with a good surgeon (apparently the one that we all told her to avoid has 'left and won't be coming back' :bblonde: ) on Tuesday

Just made me happy that I could put them in touch! :D :D

You see, I'm 53 and never been skiing in my life. 'Come skiing', people have said to me, 'It'll be fun!'

And yet, all I ever hear is about how people give themselves multiple fractures whilst sliding down an icy hill with two skinny planks tied to their feet.

And to top it off, it's bloody freeing as well.

No thank you, very much. :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Picking my new (to me) car up, the first owner spec'ed it up to £2 short of 40k.

No premium car tax for the next two years, yay!

Lucky to get much 'premium' below 40k now, our XC60 was 50k.

   Honestly, from a biker, that proper makes me laugh

I've lost count of the number of people I've talked to that won't ride a bike because they are dangerous or someone they know/friend of a friend died or got hurt really badly! Yet, we all still do it!

Skiing not much different in risk I suppose - much less speed but just as many eejits around!

And actually, it doesn't feel particularly cold up here cos its so dry. So even in below freezing temps, it's really rather lovely when it's sunny - and when it's snowy, well, that's awesome cos the slopes will be aces tomorrow :bblonde: :bblonde:

But, I guess we are all risk averse to different things :D :D I'm bloody terrified of riding bicycles - which most people think is ridiculous given I will hurl a motorbike around a track! But, I prefer engines and much bigger tyres and brakes to those skinny tyres and almost non existant (looking!) brakes on a cycle!

Gremlinette has a friend from her old secondary school called George. George has been dealt a shit hand by the Cosmic Joker. He's special educational needs, his dad died of a heart attack some years ago, and tragically, his mum died of cancer last year. Lovely kid, though. Always happy.

Now George loves buses. I mean proper obsessed by them. He's like Rain Man. Ask him how to get from Petts Wood to London Bridge and he'll reel off the buses to get, where to change, etc. At the weekend he goes out to ride bus routes he hasn't been on. Gremlinette and a mate took him to the Transport museum at Covent Garden a while ago and he was bouncing off the walls with excitement, apparently.

Anyhow, I got a text from the Gremlinette yesterday: he's got himself an apprenticeship at Transport for London and is over the moon.

She's says she's gonna buy him a tie with buses on it for his first day. :D

I like to think I had some positive influence.

But mainly Mrs. G's, in all fairness. :D

Because I'm very sad, I just looked at Groom Lake on google maps (the 26th is the first flight of the A-12).

I tried to drag the streetview man over the area to see if there was any photos and he was in a Flying Saucer :)

Getting just the right food :)

There's obviously loads of places to eat here, but hard to get a healthy light snack.
Brit bars sell unhealthy food. And tourist tapas is pants.

As a kid my fave meal was Saturday tea time. Mum made me a plate of tuna salad sarnies and a glass of milk while watching telly.

I'd had a few beers in town with pals and fancied summat scrummy.

Passed a nice Canarian cafe I hadn't been in for a while, so popped in.
They did me a tuna salad sarnie, sin mayonesa, out if this world.
So fresh n tasty.
Was 5€ for sarnie and coffee.

I left 5€ tip as was so happy.

I'll be going back there :)
