In the 80s when the only speedtrap was at Kirk Michael we did quite a few laps as fast as we could go on road bikes ( not very ! ) it really is a *lot* less straight than it looks on TV even on an old bike.

It's blooming awesome to ride the course as a 'normal' (relatively) person and then watch the freaking amazing loons go out and be heroes :bblonde: :bblonde:
I've driven a road car around most of the Grand Tour 'Eboladrome', at up to 30mph

Seeing the videos from the shows ... Wow ...

I'd dispute that. Yes, there are a lot of very high speed sections - there has to be otherwise the lap speeds wouldn't be north of 130mph. But there are a lot of slow and medium speed corners, as there would be on any public road.

I ain't seen many SLOW bit's. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Quarter Bridge, Braddan Bridge, Union Mills, Ballacraine, Ballaugh, Sulby Bridge, Ginger Hall, Parliament Square, Ramsey Hairpin, Waterworks, Gooseneck, Creg ny Baa, Signpost, Bedstead, The Nook, Governer's Bridge, Governer's Dip.

That enough?
Some might be surprised how fast they are actually going on some of those sections mentioned. Maybe more medium's. 👍

Slow is a relative term. Top racers go through the above sections way faster than you or I would dream of, but compared to the speeds they hit elsewhere on the course they are all slow, and many require heavy braking from high speeds on the approach. All of those corners are at least 90 degree/right angle turns (or very close) and 3 of them are hairpins and sub 30mph corners.

I do wonder how many people commenting on the TT have actually been there, let alone even ridden the course. Everything looks blindingly fast from a camera mounted on Hicky or MD's bike... :D

The Mountain Section (roads open, one-way traffic) is the only place I’ve got my front drum brake to fade.

Tis why I asked him that but just got a sarky comment back!

I don't know a huge amount compared to some, but I've ridden the course quite a lot and marshalled both the TT and the Manx for a number of years. I'll never say I'm the oracle of the TT but I do appreciate it quite well :D :D

Going round the course (on a bike, obviously) a few times, on open roads gives you a better idea of what you’re listening to and seeing flashing past when a race is on.

Yes have been round the course, in a road race car (well interior out and roll cage) with a proffesional rally driver.

The road riders are amazingly talented, the side car passengers are really brave/wierd IMO.

I'd be impressed if it was Tony Pond (he held the car lap record for years in a Rover 827).

Was Tony in an SD1, he was taking people out and I knew someone that knew someone. An amazing experience, with a lovely very talented driver.

First one to brake 100mph. Only one to beat it has been a fully tweaked saburu rally car. The 827 that he broke the 100 in was not that modded just him in the car and his memory of the course.

1 billion seconds is about 32 years

(That's American billions not proper old fashioned ones :D ).
Then I read this, this morning....

'The average debt including mortgages per household in the UK is £64,296. Collectively, people in the UK owe nearly £2,000 billion'.

(I suppose, as it includes mortgages, it's not really surprising but if you take out all of those with no or very little debt it's no wonder interest rate rises cause a bit of pain).
