This is a very reluctant sale so it’s not priced to give it away, yes there are newer bikes out there for sale so feel free to move on to those, no problem
This bike is the genuine MTR VDB bike bought from Franco. I still have all the original VDB plastics and number board if wanted too

MTR swingarm and linkage
MTR clamps
Ohlins forks and shock
108mm brake, choice of brembo or DP Racing
Brembo rear brake, the fancy billet one
16x16 brembo master cylinder
PFM 300mm disc
Chassis and motor has all titanium bolts
Exhaust is the MTR SC Project headers and link pipe with akro end cans that are mint.
16 inch front and 5.5 rear, wheels are perfect no chips
Motor has just been rebuilt by Dave Barrington at TKB Racing Ltd
KTM 505 kit (477cc)
Modified engine cases, something to do with the oil ways (?)
Carrillo rod
Factory cams
Crank is the lighter 3/4 crank
Airbox is a modified 2010 smr rubber boot and K&N filter which gave better results on the dyno than the 2012 flat foam thing that came on the 12.
Since having a full rebuild the motor has been set up on the dyno and done one hillclimb event totaling about 3 minutes. Absolutely no expense spared developing and maintaining this engine
Spares to come with the bike include engine cases, original SC Project end cans as used by MTR back in the day, sprockets, discs, step seat, standard seat, plastics, everything is either new or as new.

You can get stretchy fabric for the panels for not terrible money, but part of me wonders "well, is there any real point in it" and i'm not fully convinced there is. As i've said, it's not like we'll be living in it or unless the boy goes crazy one evening, sleeping in it. Been there, done that, hotels are the way forward..

I do also need some storage solutions here for helmets and kit. I've already got 2 Halfords storage folding things which work really well for throwing the messy stuff in after riding. But something to get the helmets a bit more accessible and stop them rolling around is needed


Also need something for the 2 spare wheels we'll take. I think they'll fit nicely on the side walls, but i wasn't thinking of above the wheel arches as they're paneled and i was assuming one of them would be where you'd sit and change shoes etc... So maybe could do 1 wheel on the passenger side wheel arch, the other at the front on the drivers side wall. I've got a couple of bit stretchy cargo nets coming for the wheels.

I don't know what your woodwork skills are like but I built these over my wheel arches. Ideal for keeping rarely used oddments and spares. There were designed to suit this trailer board, and the other side had the spare bulb kit, jump leads, etc.

They're rubbish matey... I don't do woodwork. I have a drill and a standard hand-saw... but not really my thing.

It's a good idea though... but i'd expect a little small for what i need.



This sort of thing is another potential option.

Easily made bigger or more suitable, but if you're rubbish at woodwork then probably a non starter. I adapted them to have a removavble bed across the van.

Pockets on the van wall are good too.

I have older version of one of these, it used to fit nicely across the Custom and supported itself. Dunno if you have something similar but it was simple and effective.

This works well enough for the wheels, we won't need them often if at all, so it's more just about carrying them out of the way

I think I'd need a 2nd mortgage.

The reality is, at the moment I don't really know what we want or where we want it. It's all guesswork right now until we get used to things and how they all play out.

I do have the Question now of the Pragmasis ground anchor. It has a van fitting kit with break away bolts... but it does mean of course drilling 4 holes in the van floor (correctly and not damaging anything underneath lol

What's the forum thoughts on a ground anchor in a van ? somewhat silly ? excessive ? or "yeah go for it".

I do have the option of returning it.

I wouldn't drill holes in a newish van floor, personally. a) not a great thing to do to the corrosion protection and b) what do you do when you sell it, leave 4 holes in the floor or just stick bolts in the holes? It wouldn't help sell it to me.

Edit: I assume that, given the job it does, it won't be easy to remove....

I wouldn't be concerned about drilling holes in the van floor, most ply kits just self tap into the floor so lots of vans have loads of little holes (and you could just fill them with grommets if it was removed.

I'd be more worried about how easy it would be to just pull out, it's surprisingly thin the floor metal, unless it bolts to a chassis rail?

I suppose it is what people do with vans and I have a car mindset. I definitely wouldn't be taking a drill to a car floor, double skinned or not. Floor panel corrosion is probably not why most vans reach the end of the road either. I had to have a plate welded into the footwell in mine when it corroded. But that was mainly because it used to fill up with water when it rained.
