No idea what's there (other than the Cathedral)
Not a lot, although there is 1 cannon you can sit on, although you probably shouldn't

Don't bother with Ely, just make a 690 vid like this...

Ely - ship of the fens, the A10 is usually busy when I've been through it, watch out for the bumps if you try the back roads.
If you're going up the A10, the Cambridge - Haverhole - Sudbury road is good.

Bugger didn't see this. I dropped the message, grabbed a quick bite to eat and left. Else I'd have come over for a coffee

You're not wrong! Did Cromwell's joint and left. House was OK, wouldn't make a proper effort to see it but as somewhere convenient as a break from a ride it worked.

@Supermofo It's a Z9 next year then, all your shortlist has been bought.

Only did a bit of the A10, not sure where I was passed Cambridge as was using the TomTom thrill ride do da. Looking at the map now on the way up it was Cottenham, Wilburton, Witchford.
Way back was Soham, Fordham, Newmarket, Linton, S-waldon.
The roads around Soham

thought I was gonna be sea sick! I reckon I could lay a road better. It was also bloody windy, the 690 is like an upright sail and across the fens I was eyeing the water filled ditches with some trepidation

Low winter sun was a bugger too, either blindingly bright or heading into a black hole under trees.
Still all in all a decent 120 mile round trip

Beats working.
The bike is grim. There are 2 months worth of flies on it

It'll be 10 kilos lighter once washed.

This is appealing currently. Some decent extras already and bugger all miles

Very nice and not unlike the Z9. I'd rather these than them retros. Get it done.

That's a nice GSX, £300 more than mine, but it's done a tenth of the mileage.
And Alpha did me a good deal on my Dainese leathers

Yes it appeals as well as it has R&G engine cases and bungs, rad guard, exhaust hanger, tail tidy and an exhaust. I'd basically have to buy a screen and done.
And a topbox

Went to wash my bike and a mouse has been living in my bucket

half me washing cloths shredded the other half stank of piss. Job lot of turds too.
Settled for soaking the flies with wet tissues left for 10 mins and then a good soak in muc off and a rinse. Came up better than expected but gonna need to properly wash it next week when I don't have piss smelling cleaning cloths!
Also need to clear the garage (been doing stuff in the house and it's become a bit of a dumping ground for old furniture) and then stick some poison down. But want to make sure I can find corpses before I do that!!
The muc off did a better job than expected though so that's something for now, but it's not properly clean. So that's next week then, protection spray and cover till Spring

Get mouse traps, the corpses stay in the traps.

Been off this week but been doing stuff with the kids, so today was the first dry day I've had to remove some bits from the Duke for when it goes.
First up was the sat nav mount and wiring. We'd done a nice and neat job with the wiring but had to cut about a million cable ties to get it off. The ball mount has stuck to the M8 bolt I used in the bar clamps. I'm hoping the Suzuki uses the same size else I'll have to try and get it off or buy a new kit from ultimate add ons. Not the end of the world though and I was kindly given this m8 kit back on TRC.
Next up was the top box mount. Again nice and easy to remove and everything bagged up and read to sell. I'll be keeping the plate and top box but couldn't see the point of leaving just the arms on so will try and move them on and put the oe grab handles back on. It looks so much better and a lot shorter without the top box, but I just find them so handy.
Finally I had to split the rear mudguard to remove the bracket I put there for the Tutoro which I've given to my mate for his wife's Tracer. That was a mucky job as I hadn't cleaned under there properly when I put the bike away.
Felt really sad removing the bits, the Duke is a really special bike for me and I'll really miss it. Was wondering what I'd get for one of the kids on ebay and keeping the Duke

I'm sure once the Suzi arrives I'll move on but the 690 especially this one as its been mine since new will be missed.

FFS. My fault for leaving it till this afternoon. But stick the 690 battery on charge and shows maintain immediately. Not long since I last charged it and it lives under the stairs. So take it out and connect it and will the bastard bike start
Tried 4 times before it wasn't even turning over. So back on charge.
Worse case I think I'll pop to Halfords. Nope, earliest collection is Monday and the Suzuki arrives Fri. Cock.
So will leave it on charge overnight and try in the morning and then it'll be a trawl of the bike shops for a new battery

Can you use a halfords jump pack on motorbikes? Thinking that might be my worse case just to get it running

Can't see why not, I've used the smaller types before.

Been offered the use of this one. Used it to start my wife's car during lockdown
