I appreciate that some biological men may not have a prostate gland having had it removed (because of cancer perhaps) but I'd suggest that a person that didn't have a prostate gland, penis and testicles at birth is not a man (OK, there may be some poor soul that was born without all the bits. I recognise that but those poor souls do not make up the bulk of humanity). Likewise a bloke that hasn't got a full complement of eggs and doesn't menstruate is not and never will be a female.
I find it absolutely incredible that this very vocal minority of weirdos is making the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition look like a complete and utter tool. Let's face it, they're not going to provide enough votes to get the woke tosser into No.10. He may understand the law but he sure as shit doesn't understand people.
Starmer has, like these shouty weirdos, a disorder.

Oooh get you! (both) It was a rant without any empathy for the subject, in fact the opposite, with a dose of "it must be all the Left's fault" thrown in. You can critique further if you like, I didn't think it needed it.
I'm not even going to pretend I grasp the subject, I've already said I don't think political leaders should be asked (or volunteer) to have a strong stance on a subject they really can't get into. It'll be a mess.

LOL
I'm clearly nowhere near as sharp as you as I can't see where I criticised the 'left'.
I can clearly see where I criticised the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition, you know, the champagne socialist Sir Keir Starmer who wouldn't prosecute Jimmy Saville when he was head of the CPS but the left?
Nope, can't see it . . .

Chopping bits off is no longer on the table, this is about self determination. A nauseating word game where one side keeps changing the dictionary through threatening to get anyone who gets in their way the sack, and the other side which tries to find different words they won't get sacked for.irie wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 8:43 amSame logic as saying that if a man's genitalia is chopped off he's/she's (?) entitled to call himself/herself (?) a woman because women don't have male genitalia either. Mostly.Count Steer wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 7:42 amIf a woman transitions to become a man, the man may still have a cervix, if it hasn't been surgically removed. So that means it's not right to say it - if you accept that the individual is a man. Which is what the argument is really about.Trinity765 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 7:17 am Stop the world right now - it's time to get off!!!
"It's not right to say that only women have a cervix" says Starmer in a row sparked by Rosie Duffield who came under fire after supporting online criticism of a tweet which referred to "individuals with a cervix" to be inclusive of trans men (where's the banging head on a brick wall smiley when you need it).
Ms Duffield later acknowledged "that some trans men have a cervix". Do they? Really? WTFF. How on earth are our biology teachers expected to teach reproduction now? Perhaps if they explain how it works for apes and then add "and it's the same for humans" and leg it out of the classroom they may get away with it.

Self-ID means any man who says he’s a woman, is a woman.

And, if I understand correctly (which I may not!), the Wee Poison Dwarf is intending to legalise in Scotchland, for 16 year olds. I can imagine a few spotty 16yo lads demanding to b allowed to use the girls changing rooms.

I'm sympathetic but I'd be displeased to get on the wrong side of this changing scene through simple kindly ignorance.Mussels wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 6:30 pm

Malevolent unacceptance is rather different though. As is militant forcing it down your throat.

Re: In todays news...
Guess it depends how strongly you feel. I don't directly know anyone who it impacts so my sympathy is slightly pointless and I'm buggered if I'm getting triggered by it. If a nearest-and-dearest happened to be impacted then naturally it'd affect me more, i'm sure i'd appreciate more of the nuances and the unfairness of something that barely impacts those looking on from afar. It's obviously not simply a case of biological facts.

Re: In todays news...
Sometimes it matters, sometimes it doesn't.
E.g. Most of the time, if a man wants to pretend he's a woman or a woman want to pretend she's a man it doesn't matter, I'll humour them. However, if the NHS is calling people forward for cervical or prostate cancer checks, then it matters. To state the obvious, a pretend woman doesn't have a cervix, a pretend man doesn't have a prostate. It also matters in most sports. Men have a physical advantage, which is why we have women's sports in the first place, Allowing pretend women to compete against real women is ridiculous.
Oh, and as for pronouns,

I had one of those thick butchers blocks on a kitchen table in mind, plus my wife's obsession with true crime programmes.
