Deffo lol! Dunno whether it slid when it was hot or something, but I was convinced i'd got it level lol!

I had a couple of hours spare today, so I fitted the hand guards. All pretty straightforward apart from one pinfukit moment when a 10mm nut disappeared into a parallel universe.

So as I had a bit of time I thought I may as well get the 2 rounded off allen bolts out that hold the front mudguard off. An hour later they are nothing more than rounded off even more. HTF something can round off so easily, yet resist anything I try and wedge in there! After a few exchanges I left it. Wonder if I can take the forks out with the mudguard attached...

Had the same with the Beemer, it'll be because the threads of the bolts stick out a tiny bit into all the crap being flung off the wheels.

If you drill the heads off to remove the mudguard there might be enough stud stuck out to get the mole grips on... after a lot of Plugas/WD/GT, etc...

I hadn't thought about the threads sticking through the forks and getting covered in shite. I'll get the wheel out and see if that is the case and clean them up and plus gas them before attacking them again. Effin' nuisance really as I could have had it all done the other day but was thwarted by these dastardly bolts!

My Bro had four rounded nuts on the footpeg hangers on his new to him Z750 discovered when he went to fit a top box. Think it look heating, several drill bits, 12 odd hours and much effing and jeffing to get em out.

I think i'm actually beaten by it! I've never had this before. I've undone rounded off disc bolts with less problems! This has had the exposed threads cleaned up and lashings of plus gas and i've now tried drifting it round with a chisel, but it ain't budging at all?!?! I slipped and gouged the mudguard a bit anyway so I guess heat is going to be the only way? But the mudguard aside, I don't really want to ruin the finish on the fork leg?

I've read before about syringing the old oil out and just put the new stuff in and that could be an option I suppose? I think i'd rather remove them as a pair with the mudguard attached though. What a PITA! As they say, its never easy...

Lets see some pics so we can visualise better ?

You should be able to remove the wheel and you will see the captive nuts inside a cage and the end of the rusty bolts sticking through.
Carefully remove the cages with a dremmel and you should be able to dremmel of the nuts without generating to much heat.
Just replace the bolts with new and you will be able to secure with new nuts on inside.

He did a few for me that way and saved me hours of grief on bolts that wouldn't shift with blow lamps, hammer and chisel etc.
Do you know anyone with welding gear?

I did but the F-i-L gave his up when he moved house, something we both regret!
