I really do need to get a ride on an SV650. I'm seriously thinking about downsizing from my old VFR750 and I reckon an SV650 would fit the bill perfectly. It would also give me plenty of scope for fettling/fiddling/uprating stuff...

We've not had a proper frost since Sunday,I was out in the car this morning & the roads didn't look gritted so I decided to get the bike out.
The other week the roads & lanes around here were covered in mud from tractor's,but the rain over the last few weeks seems to have washed the mud away. It's forecast to get wintry agatn next week so I made the most of it

I probably sound like a broken record banging on about how good they are,I bought mine as a winter hack bike two years ago, wondering what the fuss was about, but after a few months I really 'got' it.They're great bikes,I've grown to love the V twin.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 7:06 pm I really do need to get a ride on an SV650. My Street Triple is a fun bike & outperforms the SV in most departments but if I sell one it'll be the Triumph'with the money going into a later SV

Yeah - I'm a long time V-twin fondler and the light weight and uncomplicated nature of the SV really appeals. Is there any particular 'generation' of SV that is best or is it just a case of buying on condition and mileage?Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 7:37 pmI probably sound like a broken record banging on about how good they are,I bought mine as a winter hack bike two years ago, wondering what the fuss was about, but after a few months I really 'got' it.They're great bikes,I've grown to love the V twin.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 7:06 pm I really do need to get a ride on an SV650. Indeed. I washed the GSXS Sunday and don't have a dryer so just use drying towels and left if out in the wind a hour or too. Yesterday I went into the garage to get something and the rad still had a little water in the nooks and crannies! Would have started it and ridden it up and down the road a bit but the battery is in the house and pig to remove.

The Gen 1 'curvy's' are carbs
Gen 2 pointy's are FI
Gen 3 have the Gladious steel trellis frame.& smaller tank.
I think the biggest concern would be previous owners, they seem to be popular with novice riders.

The last time I rode my bike: 11 June 2023. I went for one last solo ride before packing up the bike to move to the UK.
This pic was taken here, on the South African side of the Lesotho border. The border is defined by a small river on the near side of the dirt road you can see in the valley.
It's 6:30am, clear blue skies and -2degC.

Re: When/Where/Pics was the last time you rode your bike ?
Full day on the Hants lanes yesterday on the orange bike and 3 mates, you could say it was a bit nippy!
Fair bit of flooding in places which added to the fun, and the super slimey chalk in places had one or two of us on our arses more than once, all in all another cracking day
I didn't take any pics this time but someone else did (well, it's a vid actually) and she posted this up on FB last night, and it's got 2.6k likes so far

Actually, you need to keep your wits about you in that locality. There's one particularly rabid traffic warden who hands out tickets like confetti for any old transgression. A mate was done for facing the wrong direction on his Harley in a one way street, because he pushed the bike around to get the camber right for his sidestand. A car wheel on a kerb will get you ticketed to. I'm quite surprised he hasn't had a word dropped in his ear by now.Count Steer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 7:32 pm Photoshop. Shows the power of social media though eh, as if we didn't already know, but it has brought it home to me- one pretty insignificant post from someone, although obviously respected, not any big name or player, in a small backwater village got pretty big coverage- really surprised me, and was nice to see

I think it's great that she posted it at all too. I mean, both bikers and horse riders get a bad rap (often from each other), so I like this for lots of reasonsTricky wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 8:30 pmIf only...Skub wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2024 8:07 pmRoyalties!
