A couple nights ago, I grabbed 3 items for dinner, I used the self check out again and when asked if I wanted my receipt, I select no, because I don't have any alcohol. As I leave I am once again accosted by a Tesco staff member (not the same one!)

Her "Are you paying cash or card?"
Me "I've already paid thanks"
Her "Where's you receipt?"
Me "I opted not to print it"
Her "you have to have a receipt"
Me "so why does the machine give me an option not to have one"
Her " How else do we know you've paid"
Me "why does the machine give me an option not to have one"
Her "I don't know"

In better news I've discovered Morrisons is easier, they discount heavily at about 17:30 and the self checkout attendant hasn't accosted me yet!
If they are going to accuse you of stealing they should be more subtle or just come right out with it, if it happened to me and I wasn't in a rush I'd suggest they call the police and explain why they stopped you, or shut up and go back to their minimum wage job.

If someone accuses me of being a thief then I don't care about hurting their feelings, I might even want to make them feel uncomfortable.

It's bloody everywhere. I've been told to cut my salt intake right down.
So that rules out the obvious stuff and gonna start cooking from fresh.
But there's so many foods that you don't imagine salt to be a danger.

Finding lots of info on Google.

Main surprise to me is cheese. Especially blue cheese which I love. It's about 1.4 g of salt per 100gm

Even tinned tuna. Got some John West stuff. Bloody whole gram per small 100 gm tin.
Bread is now out.
Even too much salt in Cheerios.

But no salt in beer ;)
It gets worse. Even plenty of salt in bloody Alpen. Only cereal that's good is porridge. But just found out there's salt in piggin' milk. There's 0.4 gms in half pint of milk. Not much per se, but lots of little bits add up.

Still no salt in beer :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Did the quack set a target? Healthy salt level is 6gm/day
(2.4gm sodium) max, low salt diet is about 3gm.
Porridge is a superfood I reckon...I think I could become a squillionaire with a 'porridge diet' book. :D

Proper rolled oats, whole milk, blueberries and honey 🍯

I could probably live on that. (I had high BP and monitored it, twice a day. Porridge days were better than non-porridge days...which makes it a 24 carat fact that porridge reduces BP   )

Just keep the factory out of your food. i.e. don't buy or eat processed food. Also, as I said earlier the Spanish are notoriously heavy with salt, so if youre in a restaurant ask for "sal minima" and point at your heart. They always knew what we meant. :D My Father-in-Law has had 3 strokes and is very susceptible to BP rises through salt. His BP always went up when holidaying in SPain and asking for sal minima helped quite a bit according to his BP monitor.

I'm cutting out what I can. Coz there'll be hidden salt in other stuff.
We have sarnies and snacks often when out.

Yup. Only allowing bread when we eat out.
We're off out soon for the day and lunch will be a butty or burger somewhere nice.

As I've mentioned, I'm tyre monkey-ing again this week (last week before I head to the Alps) and today my P was well a truly boiled.

VW people carrier comes in, NSR tyre completely flat, the owner hands me the keys, hops into her mates car and off she goes.

The flat tyre had actually worn through the rubber on the inside edge! I mean, she'd worn the tread off, she got down to the canvas, she'd worn through that, got the the steel cords, worn through those too and eventually the tyre had given up. So she needs a new tyre. I'd be doing her a mis service not to check the rest. OSR tyre is heading the same way fast, steel cords hanging out on the inside edge! OSF tyre is the same, again it's the inside edge. NSF is the only one not showing cords, but only just, it's bald as a bald thing and the cords will be visiting the outside world very soon. I get Jordon from our office to call her as she knows her a bit (I think they were at school together). I am very clear to Jordon (who knows her job) how serious it is, The car needs 4 tyres and a wheel alignment, anything else is not safe illegal and downright stupid.

The customer informs Jordon that she "can't justify spending that much (sub £400 for everything) on the car with Christmas just around the corner, just replace the tyre that doesn't hold air, leave everything else as it is".

What's really ridiculous is that there's no way the remaining tyres will last until Christmas, she will be back very soon with another blown tyre.

You'll be doing the world a service if you phone the Old Bill and tell them that this lassie is driving an un-roadworthy vehicle. I think that you have an obligation to do that really when yo know there's a safety issue and you're allowing it to continue.

I'm actually a bit surprised there's not more "power" to stop someone driving off in a car with obviously shot tyres. Although I suppose if the garage owner or whatever overrules there's not much you can do.

If you refuse to do anything at least you aren't complicit. Anything short of four new hoops and wouldn't you be aiding and abetting?

If the car has an accident and the Police and/or insurers discover it was allowed to leave with dangerously worn tyres and I would think the Tyre company might be legally liable.
