We don't get them because not enough people buy them to make them worth importing

I think you're right.

At current exchange rate the faired one is £13,339.84 , so £15k officially imported is probably about right.

The 13's too big, too bulky. I've happily have a 600 version. 80 horses, weight under 200 kg, and I'd be in at a reasonable price. But it'll never happen - too expensive building four cylinder motors for budget bikes.

If I could afford £15k for a retro look Honda I’d be tempted by one of these, I think there are still some available.

But the aircooled 1100 motor only makes 80bhp or something.

I like the 400, the one I had was a nice bike

I bet Honda have made the R&D costs back hundreds of times over on the JDM CB400, they've been making them pretty much the same since the 90's.

True, then again my current air(ish) cooled 900 only churns out 65, if the 80 came in a similar fashion, with a nice low down short shifty push then I think it could be a nice lazy way to make progress on a sunny Sunday.

I do like the look of the CB1100RS (more so than the EX), but the reviews are less than flattering.

Mine was a K reg, 92 I think, they went VTEC in the late 90s and then got the bodywork they have now in 2004ish, and I don't think there have been any changes since then, they're not a cheap bike either, I think they'd be about £6K if they sold them in the UK, which is a lot for a 400, but you're getting a 4 cylinder bike that's made in Japan with Nissin 4 pot calipers and other good quality components.

I do like the look of the CB1100RS (more so than the EX), but the reviews are less than flattering.

I seriously considered one when I bought my Suzuki, it was the same price and lower mileage, I'm surprised I bought the Suzuki.

CB1300's are fetching top dollar.
Naked ZRX1200's are going for really fucking stupid money.... the faired ones, not so much.
GSX1300's are silly money.
XJR1300's seem sensible, but there's a lot of them about and they were made for a very long time, but imho they just don't look as cool as the others.

My Dad had a brand new CB1300 some time in the mid 00s. I remember two things about it quite clearly; The seat was massive and the red paint was really nice.

There seem to be a few about like this, they seem to have that big expensive Honda build quality thing going on.

EFEs are the last of the roller bearing cranked Suzukis, they have a very strong crank and can make big power.

Apart from that I can't think of any reason to own one, the older twin shock bikes handle better, and they've got the same frame as a 1978 GS1000.

The EFE carbs are good, but nothing special, I've got a set tucked away, later GSX teapot carbs are better.

So I don't know why they love them.

Almost forgot to say, avoid high mileage ones as the gearbox is a bit weak for the power and the gears wear out.

And the engines can be very expensive to rebuild, a GPZ1100 is a much cheaper engine to rebuild (so long as you don't use Kawasaki pistons)
