Re: Olympics, who's watching ?
Uh oh, did i just curse him?? that was a proper drama.
He looks proper stressed now, forgot his computer as well, left it on his other bike and i think they rely quite a lot on those as they have no radios
love how relaxed and smiley he is now he knows he's a minute ahead, brilliant reaction to the tv camera

Good job he didn't let up!
Just as well the others don't have radios either.

Wow! What a cracking event. Fantastic crowds and an iconic course. Loved the can-can outside the Moulin Rouge too.

What time is the cycling on today?
Hopefully the velodrome stuff starts soon. There's been quite enough nag dancing, judo and dancing about on mats.
The canoe/kayak XC was a bit of a lark.

Golf is probably 3rd on my list of sports which shouldn't be at the Olympics.
Football and tennis are 1st and 2nd by the way. From that you can probably work out what criterion I'm using

I'll add anything that needs a panel of judges to evaluate the likes of 'artistic interpretation'. I'm a 'higher, faster, further, more consistently accurate' fan.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 8:19 am Golf is probably 3rd on my list of sports which shouldn't be at the Olympics.

I’m purely going on the enjoyment factor of it, it’s going to be some finish today. As for the being professionals or not i don’t really give a fuck.

Re: Olympics, who's watching ?
Pretty much this, I really like watching sports that I'd never normally watch. The Archery this morning is brilliant for example.
However, football can go, breakdancing can deffo go. Apart from those two, I'll watch most of the other stuff.

Re: Olympics, who's watching ?
I'll put golf in the 'more consistently accurate' category. It's shaping up for a good final day today.
Most top athletes are professionals anyway. The IOC even offer big $s for records. The Russians always appeared to be on the army payroll, the Americans on 'scholarships' at Uni etc even when it was supposedly amateur.
PS the archery has been most excellent. They can put that on telly every week for me inc. field archery and clouts.

Is the criterion about Oxford and Cambridge in the 1920s?Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 8:19 am Golf is probably 3rd on my list of sports which shouldn't be at the Olympics.

Is that the clay pigeon thing, I couldn't see FA, hit or miss.
Enjoyed the athletics last night, thought that Daryll summot was worth a watch, amongst others.

Re: Olympics, who's watching ?
Yup. Shame they didn't have VAR on that final shot pair from GBR - but the same happened to the Chilean earlier.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 3:42 pm Nail biting skeet shoot off for the silver / gold medal positions
Interesting mix of hardware but I guess most biggish countries have a shotgun maker.

Re: Olympics, who's watching ?
Really poor that they don't have some sort of video appeal. The slow mo clearly showed what the GB shooter had seen. And then you ask why, if the shooter saw it, why didn't the judges, after all, that's their job?MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 3:42 pm Nail biting skeet shoot off for the silver / gold medal positions
