Yes let's.
Labour were doing quite well until the (worldwide) credit crunch when the British press did a fantastic job of convincing the country it was all Labours fault. Just like they did a great job of convincing them that we needed Brexit!
There are going to be tough times ahead whoever gets in because the country is currently on its knees in a deep hole that is going to be difficult to climb out of.

I think there is enough money, more than enough, it's just that it isn't used anywhere near efficiently. We don't have a funding issue with most of our major institutions, in my opinion (particularly the NHS), we have a productivity issue. This being caused largely by political interference and many layers of needless bureaucracy which prevents the frontline staff from being able to carry out their duties effectively, rather than helping them ...

The real problem is that we have been living beyond our means for 50+ years. Not only have we been maxing out the national credit card, but we now actually expect that to continue forever.

It wont!

But there are hugely profitable companies/ corporations and billionaires being gifted tax breaks, and loopholes so they don't have to pay their fair share while the small man suffers.
I believe there is enough money in the system,it's just unfairly distributed.

Well up until a couple of days ago we didn't have a labour candidate.
But now they've flown one in, a London councillor (Kashif Haroon) who will know the sum total of feck all about the constituency, has nothing on the labour website, and aside from a protected twitter account has no social media presence.

Looks like the tory 30K+ majority is going to be safe here

Let's not blame the financial crash, or Covid, or even Liz Truss, the rot started long before that.

Had a whisper from a friend who 'knows stuff' that "Sunak is about to resign". Image

Wouldn't be surprised - with ministers turning against him he's finished.

People are saying he's off to live in California in August. His kids are already in school there apparently.

They’ll just leave.
Why should they stay in the UK with their money and hand a massive wedge to the government so they can distribute it to people who think the world owes them a living.

This “fare share” you want off them isn’t a fair share at all, it’s much bigger than your share that you’re putting in and now you want some of theirs to make up for you not putting enough in.

Make your own money and leave other peoples alone.

Nope, I've never had a penny off them.
Always worked PAYE so I've always paid my fair percentage in tax,Ni .
My point is a lot of these billionaires and chronies are not paying their FAIR percentage. They are deliberately given loop holes to avoid paying their fair share .

Interestingly you need to earn about 45k+ so you are not a net drain on the country's finances. When people say tax the rich, they are already paying the vast majority of the tax. if they all fuck off, we are screwed.

I doubt it's deliberately set this way, but for many years it's been the case that the "net contributor" threshold is about the same as the "higher rate tax payer" one

Companies are given incentives yes, you could call them loopholes I suppose. Better to get a small bit of something rather than a big chunk of nothing.

'These billionaires' are often wealth creators, building businesses (which pay tax), employing peple (who pay tax) producing things people need (on which you pay tax) . . .

Indirectly they are responsible for a lot of the revenue that the government take and use. They may not personally pay lots of tax but then their billions are not liquid assets, their billions are their worth and it's tied up in business, property, whatever. If you were very wealthy you too would try and keep as much of it as you could. Your life might be a bit different if those billionaire wealth creators suddenly disappeared.

Your political leaning is called the politics of envy.
