It snowed in Kent last night. My joy was short-lived after trudging through slushy mud 30cm deep with a dripping nose and in the knowledge that a full day's shite working from home in the dining room awaited my return.

I was lucky to find this place when I did TBH. I had always thought the sea was where I needed to be. But as soon as I came here I realised that it's all about the mountains!! I knew within the first 48 hours here that I needed to live here!
I still love the sea, but this is where I need to live! (But actually up here, not in the valley!! LOL) xx
My first season in the Alps I recall wandering around the village and thinking "wouldn't it be cool to live here..... hang on I DO live here (for the next 5 months). Been back every year since !

SDS drills :)

I inherited one when we bought the house and didn't know much about them, until today.

I needed to drill about 18" through lava rock and concrete to create some drain holes.
My Bosch drill with 10mm bit was doing nowt.

Neighbour popped round for a beer and told me I needed to use an SDS drill. I said I had no bits so he popped back home and brought a 25mm bit back.

Fuck, that won't go through I thought and the SDS tool was spinning very slowly

Fuck me, it went in like a knife through butter. Grey lava dust spitting out.

So went playing round the garden everywhere that puddles form in corners

Properly insignificant

You know those twisty salt and pepper grinders? The bought ones no ones you fill at home?

Well, today I used three different ones at different times (pepper, pink salt and garlic salt) and for the first time in 3.5 years I can use/twist them properly without it hurting!!!

Damn that made me happy!!!! :banana-dance: :banana-dance:

And Harrison went in, in such fashion that no man who saw him do it will ever forget it. Crab Wilson, as game as a pebble, met him with a flush hit every time, but no human strength or human science seemed capable of stopping the terrible onslaught of this iron man. Round after round he scrambled his way in, slap-bang, right and left, every hit tremendously sent home. Sometimes he covered his own face with his left, and sometimes he disdained to use any guard at all, but his springing hits were irresistible. The rain lashed down upon them, pouring from their faces and running in crimson trickles over their bodies, but neither gave any heed to it save to manoeuvre always with the view of bringing it in to each other's eyes. But round after round the west-countryman fell, and round after round the betting rose, until the odds were higher in our favour than ever they had been against us. With a sinking heart, filled with pity and admiration for these two gallant men, I longed that every bout might be the last, and yet the "Time!" was hardly out of Jackson's mouth before they had both sprung from their second's knees, with laughter upon their mutilated faces and chaffing words upon their bleeding lips. It may have been a humble object-lesson, but I give you my word that many a time in my life I have braced myself to a hard task by the remembrance of that morning upon Crawley Downs, asking myself if my manhood were so weak that I would not do for my country, or for those whom I loved, as much as these two would endure for a paltry stake and for their own credit amongst their fellows. Such a spectacle may brutalize those who are brutal, but I say that there is a spiritual side to it also, and that the sight of the utmost human limit of endurance and courage is one which bears a lesson of its own.
To a kid looking up to me, life ain't nothing but bitches and money.

Ordering breakfast from Deliveroo.

Since working from home it seems that I only need the slightest excuse to order a breakfast from Deliveroo. I just love watching the little scooter ducklings on the app map try to find where I live and then tipping them according to their navigation skills and their politeness and embarrassment when they're late (they know I've been watching them ignore the written instructions I've given - "I'm not where the little dot is so don't go there").

When I'm in a healthy mood I get a full English from The Hilltop Cafe - they do fantastic coffee.
When I'm in an unhealthy mood I get the full works berry pancakes from The Breakfast Club in town.

Todays excuse for a full English and nice coffee - I've run out of milk and I'm having to apply for my own job as its only a secondment at the moment. If I don't get it I will go back to my old job so not too stressed about it.

When we had fibre installed a couple of years ago, we had 300mb wired downloads.

And the guy said there were 2 different wifi connections. But only new phones could use the posh one. So I've been having to put up with 40mb on my old phone.

Ta da. Got a new Samsung and suddenly 90mb

I love the way things happen quickly and promptly over here :)

When we were buying this villa there was a discrepancy between the Govt paperwork and the house deeds. It could have made the whole house illegal. So we put the official change paperwork in and all waited and waited as the seller was just as concerned as us. Six months and still nothing :(

Then we found a clever surveyor type chappy who knew the law well and he explained that it was actually legal and showed us why. Phew, the seller was getting itchy and we signed just in time.

We've been in the house nearly 4 years and today we got a nice letter from the Ayuntamiento saying that they agree to the change and we have to fill in some forms. What's 4 years between friends

My bike fell over :(

Not normally something to make you happy, but I was by chance close to it at the time and able to pick it up*. Which stopped the fuel spilling out of it, if I hadn't been there it would have lost all it's fuel over the floor !

NB It's a supermoto, so one more falling over isn't going to radically change the tattyness of it !

*it had been sat still for 3 days, god only knows why it chose to fall over !
