Boris - how much longer will he suvive?

Our experience of the French education seemed different to UK schools in two major ways -
- rather more disciplined
- an expectation to actually learn, rather than piss about all day
We're talking about State School rather than paid-for education and my comparison is village/suburban Cambridge vs rural France, so our UK experience was hardly ghetto.
Not all roses though - they still allow the wasters to fail spectacularly badly and let them get on with being mediocre.

Overall I think the French system allowed our two to succeed more easily than if they'd remained in the UK system.

HE is waaay cheaper than the UK, although both our boys decided to go back to the UK for theirs. Up to them but yeah I'd have swerved that 50k.
I'm not sure I'd bother with HE if I had my time again anyway - I'd go "university of life" like all you sentient sparkies.

Loads. Loads and loads, probably the highest in the world IIRC.

Doesn't stop them consistently topping the charts for highest living standards and happiest populations though. ISTR Sweden is the world's most charitable nation in terms of private donations per capita.

I've been to Sweden, the people didn't strike me as a happy bunch.

They also top some less savoury charts as well, alcaholism, anti-depressants, mental health issues, huge personal debt.

Speaking at a Commons committee that he chairs, the MP for Hazel Grove accused government whips - MPs in charge of party discipline - of threatening those suspected of plotting with the removal of government investment in their constituencies.
He also said he had received reports of government ministers, advisers and staff at No 10 "encouraging the publication of stories in the press seeking to embarrass" those suspected of lacking confidence in the PM.
Mr Wragg claimed the reports "would seem to constitute blackmail" - and as well as contacting police, affected MPs should contact the Commons Speaker..

Looks very bad for Boris either way, if he didn't know about it (assuming it's true) he's admitting that people beneath him are acting without his authority. As for whether it's true, who knows? It's a proper nest of vipers.

If it is, there's another segue, from engineering to cost saving.

One bright person realised that if they overlapped the two 'O's, they could make the logo shorter and
save a little bit of material on every name badge they put on a saddle. On one badge, almost nothing, but across many thousands each it added up.

Don’t be surprised at Boris Johnson admitting he’s an idiot – it was his last line of defence.

PM’s claim to ignorance over the garden party might get him out of legal trouble, but it only invites mockery on top of rage from the public.

So which is it to be, Prime Minister: are you a criminal or an idiot? Faced with the choice, Boris Johnson made the only choice he could: he pled the fool.

What other conclusion can we draw from his explanation of what happened on May 20 2020? He was apparently unaware that his entire department was throwing what appears to be an illegal lockdown party, or what to most of us law-abiding citizens looks very like an illegal lockdown party, and when he did spot the kerfuffle in his garden, popped out to say hello and then bumbled back inside none the wiser.

If this account is true – unlikely – it only raises questions about his competency to govern.
