Yeah, I visited them in Leeds and was impressed. We got to the bottom of the IT problems we were experiencing, they promised to do stuff to fix it, and they did, on time. Corporate culture was a world away from HSBC. HSBC was all little fiefdoms, FD worked as one big team.ChrisW wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 7:00 pmI once visited them for work reasons up in Leeds. All the guff about the call-centre staff genuinely enjoying working there was true.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 6:56 pmThey're part of the HSBC group but are a completely arm's length operation. They have their own IT systems and have quite astonishing amounts of autonomy in what is still a pretty straight-laced parent company. HSBC types send themselves into a tizzy because of this - I found them good to work with and responsive. Once I transfer my HSBC stocks & shares ISA to a suitable platform I'm dumping my HSBC accounts and firing up a First Direct one.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 6:49 pm Aren't they actually HSBC in disguise and thus almost certainly evil / historically linked to slavery / other?

No, who wants clunky wooden structures getting in the way and tripping people up.

Albeit one with lax controls. Honestly, it's almost as if every bank is bloody useless.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 4:44 pm I think bank is a strong word here
I chose Starling, the one which is actually a bank.

Everyone was doing it during Covid. Same as sex pesting at the BBC in the 70s/80s, different time.

Conversely, I'm thinking of torching Santander's head office.
