I even tried pulling away in 6th to see if it would do it, and no problem, just a bit of clutch slip and away I went...
Picked up a mate on my '76 Z900 to take him to the bike shop to retrieve his VFR750. When we got there he asked how the hell I pulled away up a hill at about 1200rpm. Never gave it any thought, was under the impression all bikes could do it. Turned out his VFR needed a lot more rpm to do it.

Saying the Z1000 has more midrange and the GSXS being Rahhhhhh top end make it sounds like the GSXS is peaky. But nothing could be further from the truth, it's all just relative. In isolation the GSXS has monster midrange and will pull from nothing. As per the post about the XSR it makes the XSR's peak torque lower in the rev range than the XSR and goes on to make more. After the 690 it took a lot of adjustment to go, nah I can leave it in 3rd or 4th and it'll be fine etc.

Forgot to say on my other post, my CB was doing a genuine 150mph at Snetterton and it wasn't flat out, I think it would top out at 160, pretty good for an unfaired bike
