Chased down a little issue that was bugging me a bit. Brake light was intermittent, sometimes sticking on. So I stripped the front brake light switch and a whole lot of dirt and fluff fell out. Gave it a wipe down with a cloth with a dab of silicon spray on it and stuck it back in. Perfect! I like simple fixes. Bought a spare switch for the stocks. NO this is not a dig at RB, but simply me working my way through the bike doing stuff I like to do. I've started on the headers with the wire wool and some T-Cut. Starting to look better, but I think I have to go and buy that magic Harpic stuff and slather it on outside on the drive. I will put some in a little pot and use a long paint brush to dab it on neatly and then wash it off thoroughly. I really like having a garage and drive way!!

I bought the harpicmx10 stuff in Tesco the other week and it was on offer for a £1! Mind you it's worth ten times that when you see how good it works! I used it on all the pipe work with amazing effect!

Glad you got that sorted by the way. Always good when its a simple fix.

I’d love a BMW and seriously considered a K1200/1300s but I run my bikes on my spare cash so the thought of potential big bills scared me off in the end.

Right. Harpic 10x applied, rubbed and washed off with hosepipe. I will give them another go and then rub down with metal polish and 0000 steel wool. I'll give them a wipe with ACF50 at some point this week.

I'd say I'm slowly getting there. Some 0000 Wool and patience. I have given them a wipe with a cloth with ACF50 sprayed on it, so on my quick trip to the hospital tomorrow I'll have the gentle fumes for the first 1 minute....

This is quite theraputic, good for mental health and wellbeing.

oh yes, I rode into my old workplace today to drop off something I had that needed returning. The bike was fine in traffic, no issues filtering and no parking anywhere! I ended up nabbing a spot in the loading bay of the building as the reception staff remembered me and I was always nice to them! Filled up on the way home, 35mpg, which is good considering it has been mainly city riding and I'm still getting used to the bike and enjoying some "quicker" rides.... but I'll have a run down to Canterbury and back on the Saturday I reckon and that will be good for the bike as well. Saves me on parking and is far quicker than the train anyhow.

Had a quick (ok a very quick) blat down to BGM for Brian to run diagnostics on the bike for me using the whizz agent thing for BMW's. He gave it a completely clean bill of health electronicall speaking, so all sensors etc are fine. Says cleaning the brake light switch would have sorted the niggle out.

So I'm going to do a Weeksy! Laying the bike up for winter come tomorrow PM (have to be in Canterbury for the day and trains are a nightmare) and book it in for a full service (phone in Jan for service in March timelines).

What was nice, is that he said it was one of the better examples of K1200R's that he had seen and had obviously been well looked after. Which is very gratifying. Seeing as I am 3rd owner, the others have looked after the bike very nicely! Thanks again Rockburner for an awesome deal. Now I just need to keep my license.

You might be able to get another month out the weather yet.

The battery is very easy to remove and store somewhere warm. Its also new, so should be fine for next year.

Running the bike on 99RON from Sainsburys as there is on 4 miles from me. Costs the same as the 95RON near me. Road to Canterbury Cathedral and back today, achieved 42.8mpg and I was not sitting around, riding at a fairly rapid pace and I also did a MotoGP start up to 3rd gear to get some space pulling away form approaching traffic. It is rapid! Effortless overtakes in 6th and just smooth as anything.

I do want to get it onto a track, but with funerals, ordination service and so on, my time is rather tight. But yes, a track day is something I want to get done on this bike, as it will be nice to ride something I can accelerate down the straights on and not be overtaken! The CB500F was great for corners,but lost out down the straights.

Ah yes, the dead wait for no one. Sadly the family do have wishes. Being asked to take a funeral does have responsposibilities, especially if you knew the person well and it was their request for you to send them off. No regrets. I can wait and get used to the bike some more.
