I think I'm weird (yeah you knew that) but whilst every year I'll watch an on board and maybe a highlight or 2 and think Wow, beyond that I find the TT a bit meh. It's supposed to be THE biking mecca and I love bikes and racing but...dunno the TT just doesn't float my boat. Never had a desire to go and don't watch much.

Whereas I can watch hours of Motogp and to a lesser extent wsb/bsb. Hell I even like endurance racing.

As road racing goes I used to find the Irish road races more interesting and I reckon I'd enjoy the Manx for the classic bikes but not the big one for some reason. I think maybe cos I'm supposed to like it and I'm a contrary bugger

There's nowt wrong with that @Supermofo . I'm exactly the opposite. I hardly watch short-circuit these days, when I do I usually enjoy it, but it doesn't grab me like the TT.

These guy's are the bravest of the brave and that counts for summot imo. I'm pretty sure sitting on a verge and listening out for the first bike screaming towards you would get the boat floating, probably even my mrs and she don't do bikes.

I've never thought of the TT as the bike racing mecca.more a outlier, niche event,As a motorcyclist & bike race fan I'm happy to pay £20 to watch it all & support it.I think I've been 4 times,never on a motorbike,I prefer to visit the Classic TT & take the bike over for that one, I go there to see lots of bike's that I don't see anywhere else both in the paddock & all around the island,it's a very different atmosphere,I enjoy watching the classic Superbikes going around but I could just as easily watch them do a closed roads parade lap.
I also like BSB & Endurance racing.I used to love MotoGP but I haven't watched it for years as IMHO it got a bit 'showbiz' with all the media coverage & I think the TT is going down the same route.

So MD equals his uncles record.
I think he has surpassed what Yer Maun achieved though.
Joey never won on a proddy bike, and generally had the luxury of a works bike, and even then when faced with other work bikes, often fell short (black protest)
Nowadays, with no direct factory involvement, winning a TT is more about the man than the bike imo, as the bikes are all kicking out pretty much the same hp, everyone uses the same tyres, suspension etc so the playing field is so much more even (no flying a special set of carbs from Japan)

I am not sure if it is something in the Dunlop DNA, or just that they all have a common-sense bypass at birth, but the Dunlop clan do seem to have something fairly rare, even amongst bike racers Just watching the bikes, mostly on the ragged edge of acceleration, braking and cornering, is enough to leave me in awe. To do that and win 26 times.................

If I won something like that just once I would hang up my boots and not push my luck again.

They were saying that he's only mid 30's and Joey was 48(?) when he last won at the TT so MD has got many years to eclipse the record if he wants to. My only concern is that with the Dunlops, that they'll absolutely push it over the limits, it's either ride or die?

But then I guess you could say that about any of the top TT riders. The on board helmet camera view from Todd this year is unbelievable and scary as hell.

That would be awesome, my end goal was to do some Irish road racing but there’s no chance now, my licence has lapsed so I’d have to do it all again…..fuck that!

These boys are something else, different breed. I ain’t going to lie i sometimes drive the roads I rode all the time now and think to myself “what the fuck was I up to” but in the moment when you’re on the bike there’s nothing but calm, no worries, unbelievable concentration, everything seems to slow down, maybe it’s time to get another bike

Swings and roundabouts? PH had a really poor first stop nearly 6 secs down on the rest, in 4th place at that point. Can't deny that he then easily rode quicker than the rest on the final two laps?

A fair few riders didn't finish because of bike failures, I don't see a visor problem any different, maybe he should have done what DH did and change helmets, in fact, not sure why they all don't do that?

Gutting for MD, and I wouldn't want to be that pit techy tonight? But MD will be back and i'm sure he'll be on the podium again this week, probably in nearly, if not every race.

It was pretty entertaining though. There really isn't a lot racing wise that touches it for me.

Yeah absolutely, I agree with the helmet change as they are in long enough for that not to be an issue even if it took x amount seconds longer to change helmets.

Still a bitter pill to swallow, he’ll more than likely win the other supersport race and there are the twins as well. I love to see him win the big bike races especially when up against Hicky.

Funniest tale I know with the visor change in the pits concerned my mate who's over there now with one of the teams.
When he raced the TT in the 90's & 00's one time they did the pit stop & his dad who's job was to clean the screen with a water spray,went to spray his visor but he had flipped it open & got sprayed in the eye's,he set off down Bray Hill with streaming eye's & blurred vision!

After Sundays issues, I think the sharp end has just got a lot sharper. Without issues, there's really nowt in it, out of the top 3 maybe 4.
