Oh, and it can be green in spirit, that's fine, but I want something as close to plain black as possible. I hate fussy bike graphics and bright colours. All black or dark grey would be preferable by miles :)
The Z1000SX does come in black too ;)

Abel has just bought one having chopped in one of his KTM's for it. He still has a KTM 890ADV though for muddy touring rather than road touring/fast road stuff

I quite like the look of them in black. I think again that it's too close in purpose (and weight) to my KTM. I'd like something noticeably lighter and probably smaller.

If you have strong nerves and are not risk adverse regarding very possible reliability issues, then the Aprilia RSV4 Factory is an astounding bike. I nearly traded the Zed for one,but after a bit of reading I decided it would do in my poor little head not knowing when it would shit the bed and no dealership here for warranty stuff. It's a hell of a bike and you should buy a black one, dear Slenverz. 8-)

The models up until 2016 seem to suffer less quality complaints than the very latest gear.

I have to say, I do really like Tuonos. Not ridden any Aprilias, but the reviews do sound great and they look pretty good. Probably too much cash for a newer one though, unless I just lied :)

Do you mean no dealerships in Norn Iron? By chance, I have an Aprilia dealer about 15 miles away, which would definitely be a positive factor.

Is the reliability really that bad though?

We had one dealer (McCrumm's) here, but they lost the franchise.

There are lots of electronic/management light, overheating and oil leak incidents in the later bikes, but more worryingly build quality in general has taken a dive from 2016 on. This is a pic of an RSV4 Tuono gearbag at 2k miles. This is also the second one...

Have a try on the 990 Duke? I really liked the one I tried - way way better than the 690, to me :D

The trouble is , like what has been mentioned in another thread recently,,the roads are utterly fucked, full of potholes and loose gravel, so where there is a decent bit of road it makes for the ideal place to put a speed camera ,van or policeman with a radar etc.
Which sadly in my mind makes the litre sportsbikes and supersport 600s utterly pointless really unless you're going to do track days.
The adventure bikes, tall rounders and supermotos make a lot more sense in reality, to me at least.

Rucksacks on a distance ride get old, real quick and so does looking at permanently mounted luggage. So, MT09 with a (removable) top box ftw!

I have a rack on my GSXR, but use the tank bag if I need to go shopping.

Yeah, I should probably try one. I think they look pretty hideous though. I don't really like the look of any KTMs tbh... and can't stand the orange!
