Bought my daughter a Fiat 500 as her first car. She hated it, couldn't get on with it at all. So, that went, and a Toyota Aygo mk 2 followed. She loved it, but couldn't get on with it.
Turns out when it comes to driving particularly she slightly dispraxic. So, that went and a Toyota Aygo mk 2 auto arrived. Passed her test with only 2 minors and she loves her car. Bonus for me is that it's very easy to work on. I did a full service on it in under an hour, filters/ oil/ spark plugs/ air and cabin filters etc.
Got all the gadgets she needs such as a reverse camera, bluetooth etc
I like driving it as well, it's a 69bhp auto with paddles, an absolute hoot.

My wife had the auto one.
It's not a proper auto with a torque convertor, it's a normal manual gearbox with a proper clutch, but has robotic change... just like a E46 M3 SMG

yep, quite clever but a bit rough sometimes. Still brilliant though. Naivety of youth though, when I toild her I'd teach her to use the manual side of the gearbox using the paddles. She said to me she wasn't allowed?? I questioned 'why?'. She told me her licence was auto only, therefore she wasn't allowed to use the manual side of the gearbox as it would be against the law. Bless her

The Aygo was on the list - but it is made is the same factory as Citroens and Peugeot. So it’s French!

I knew the Aygo shared with something else, but I couldn't remember what.
Is it a Japanese car which gets French badges, or the other way around?

A family member has a second hand Yaris Hybrid and loves it except for one thing. It has low profile tyres which are jarring on our bad roads. So it is not the preferred choice for longer journeys in spite of its 60+ mpg and excellent performance.
I have had a couple of Nissan Notes. The first had 50,000 miles o the clock before I bought it and it so impressed me I then bought a new one. This is a practical but unfashionable choice so it could be a second hand bargain. Presumably you could be put off by the "French Connection" though.

Looks a bit silly with such a wide track, I guess they couldn't make the drive shafts any shorter.

Reminds me of the Legends series cars. Look like Al Capone cars but they're absolutely tiny. Go like stink though. I think when I saw them they had 900cc bike engines in.

Sounds a bit odd, so I’d better elaborate…
If she’s not bothered about performance the basic 60bhp would do, and don’t go for the GTi tho it’s brilliant, because potholes are murder on the wheels (45profile). 5 door and the seats down for the dog as the boot is small with the seats up.
We had an Aygo ( same as the Citroen C1 and Pug 107) before that, but it felt light, cheap and flimsy, like driving a biscuit tin compared with the Up which was proper chunky and substantial and great to drive.
You’ll have to get reversing sensors fitted as they don’t come with them.

French. DS3 1.6 Diesel is so much fun for so little money. When this one dies i will be looking for another for sure.

We've had a few of them, from the 1.2 3cyl, the 1.2 Tsi with the 110 bhp that I still have and the 1.0 Tsi. Enough room for the hound(s) bulletproof reliability, great build quality and good economy.
We had the Citigo which is basically an Up, but it was very cramped and felt a bit tinny.

I had the 3cyl 1.2 in a VW Fox. It was quite a nippy thing but crap on fuel at motorway speeds. I was only averaging 35 on long runs.
