Re: Dune du Pilat
Weather is shocking at the moment, typically early September is still fairly hot and it's nice(r) because the vast majority of family tourists have bogged off. This feels like autumn.
I'm off to Spain next week, probably Valencia.

I'm drinking beer in Reims, been trying to chase the sun by heading east. Might have another sunny day tomorrow if lucky, then I think we're going to get wet.

Google maps set to no tolls, no motorways and a 10min stop every hour for her in doors to have a walk (she's convinced she'll get dvt, since she had a PE a couple years back).
And I got here at 3pm.

As an aside, have Fronch speed cameras stopped flashing when they take a picture?
I went through two today at 40kph+ more than the limit, they didn't flash at all.

Some of the digital jobbies higher up on posts don't seem to flash. The shorter ones do. (Might not be an always thing but I'm sure that I didn't get a flash but got a ticket back in the winter)KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 5:46 pm As an aside, have Fronch speed cameras stopped flashing when they take a picture?

BUT - an English was telling me back in the summer that since the last few years, it's back to not getting tickets on UK reg vehicles, so not sure if that's true or not!!

Yeah, since Brexit the UK five-o don't share driver details with the Fronch.
But I do have a crit air sticker, no idea if the po-po and the crit air people share data.

I'm in the Au Torboyo. Two pints of Grimbergen and half a fruit sour they couldn't pour a proper pint so gave me for free!

I'd ask on a bikers touring France group on FB or something similar. Not all UK camera's flash so I guess it's the same tech on the French camera's.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 5:46 pm As an aside, have Fronch speed cameras stopped flashing when they take a picture?

Don't know about France but in the last few weeks I've seen a few posts were people have had a speeding fine turn up in the post from speeding in Spain. Here's an example..
Just had a speeding fine from Spain July , €100 or €50 if paid within 20 days obviously paid it , however they cannot enforce it in uk , but they acumlate in spain & can rise to €500 if not paid ‘
And if you ever go Spain again they can hold you till the fine is paid in full , just a heads up !

I'm not worried, I'm just concerned they didn't get the pics of me waving at them, when they didn't flash.

Small speeding indiscretions here don't get a points deduction.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 7:03 pmI'd ask on a bikers touring France group on FB or something similar. Not all UK camera's flash so I guess it's the same tech on the French camera's.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 5:46 pm As an aside, have Fronch speed cameras stopped flashing when they take a picture?

And all fines are halved if paid in 20 days.

For some reason Spain and the UK have a reciprocal agreement on speeding signed post Brexit.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 7:03 pmI'd ask on a bikers touring France group on FB or something similar. Not all UK camera's flash so I guess it's the same tech on the French camera's.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2024 5:46 pm As an aside, have Fronch speed cameras stopped flashing when they take a picture?

I have driven through France recently - none of the camera flashes resulted in a fine. Even in EU days in my German reg car, I was fined. In my UK car I was never fined

Re: Dune du Pilat
Still in Reims (and glorious sunshine), I think Wednesday/Thursday I might do Paris and Friday Bethune so it's a short trip back to Calais for the early Saturday crossing.
Just need to work out where to go Monday and Tuesday.
Been the Surrender museum today... No, it's about the German surrender not the Fronch!
