Was your F a JDM bike, they're restricted to 75bhp and the accelerator pumps are blanked off, or was your G a US spec bike with CV carbs, they're the main reasons I can think of for it feeling different, personally I preferred the 1985 Fs to the Gs and Hs, but the difference wasn't massive

No, both were UK market bikes. My mate had a JDM 750 H where a light came on at a certain speed, 50mph or so if my memory serves me well. Instrument clocks were different too.
As said, it was my commuter bike, to do 110 miles a day up and down dual carriageways and motorways. Apart from a couple of miles a day getting out of the village, it rarely saw bends. Sacrilege, I know, but now none of my bikes see motorways.

I had an F, my mate had a G or an H, I thought the F felt a little "racier" but I may have been deluding myself because I couldn't afford the later bike, though my F had done 1800 miles when I bought it in 1991, his bike had done over 20000, so it might just have been that my F was lower mileage, best £2400 bike I ever had, kept it 3 years and did loads of miles on it, sold it for £1700.
