Re: Crowdfunding/Justgiving for @weeksy08 racing to go and race in Europe.
I'll have to check on that and come back to you guys.
But sounds about right above.
I've now done a bit of creative editing on the topic title and the opening post to add the link.

Blimey! That's a bit ripe. So out of the £2k they want £200?
I know, they provide a service etc but some of these things raise a lot more than £2k. Kerr-bloomin-ching!! I've been in the wrong business!

I guess the argument is that £1800 out of £2000 is £1800 more than £0. Must admit i didn't/haven't looked into it in depth. I'm still sitting feeling slightly embarrassed in the first placeCount Steer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 4:17 pmBlimey! That's a bit ripe. So out of the £2k they want £200?

5%? That's not so bad. Regarding the post above, don't see why you should be embarrassed at all. If you look at half, or more, of the people that get anywhere in their sports they need support/sponsorship/backers and lots of people don't mind giving it - gives them something...I dunno, 'skin in the game', pleasure to think they're helping someone be the best they can etc. People whoop and holler when a Brit wins a gold in skateboarding or BMX or swimming/diving whatever but would go pale if they knew what it had cost in time, money, sweat and pain to get there. How much more would they whoop and holler if they've helped them to get there eh?weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 4:39 pmOut of interest I just check and all £15 subs come to me at £14.26Count Steer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 2:24 pm Out of interest...how big a cut do Justgiving vs PayPal take?

I hear you mate and I've done the same in reverse for people more than once. Like Cheb above I struggle with receiving things, Mrs Weeksy gets very frustrated with me at birthdays and Xmas as I can't ask for things, or she tries to contribute to xzy and I don't go with it.Count Steer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 5:55 pm5%? I know I'm a tricky person at times to deal with, but, there's the exception of course which is, the boy. When it comes to him, I put myself in situations I wouldn't normally accept. But that's just being a parent isn't it.
The boy has been part of not only my life, but many of yours from Cadwell when he was 6 weeks old. Then many times after. We've all grown up and old with him and seen him turn into who he is now. Fwiw, I think that kinda means something to all of us, him included

Done. I'm expecting a podium, so no pressure

Another good idea would be a newsletter from the boy himself.
Talking about the lead up to the event and transport etc.
Then a bit about practice and a decent write up about the race.
Doners will appreciate that more than words from you.

I'm not honestly convinced you'll get that, but his Instagram will show some of that this year for sure. Many of the races we get no signal from Friday till Sunday evening which makes things on the fly quite tricky
I can pressure the bugger a bit to make an effort here though

I know a lot of motorcycle racers who do put the effort in.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 6:54 pmI'm not honestly convinced you'll get that, but his Instagram will show some of that this year for sure. They send it out on various media. They know a lot of potential sponsors don't use stuff like Instagram, so cater to them as best they can.

I reckon that most circuits have much better wifi than a lot of the DH places!!Yorick wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 6:58 pmI know a lot of motorcycle racers who do put the effort in.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 6:54 pmI'm not honestly convinced you'll get that, but his Instagram will show some of that this year for sure. Collating info post race could be a good one, but TBF, at this point, there's probably a balance needed between pressure of racing and pressure of social media/updating folks. He doesn't have a team of people that can help with the SM stuff (yet!!)

He could spend 15 minutes typing in the car, going and coming home.Noggin wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 7:02 pmI reckon that most circuits have much better wifi than a lot of the DH places!!Yorick wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 6:58 pmI know a lot of motorcycle racers who do put the effort in.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 6:54 pm

Doesn't have to be prize winning quality.
