Yes I've noticed the GSX8s,I was offered a demo ride on a brand new one at Youles Triumph/ Suzuki back in May (They were trying to get me to part with my Street Triple).The performance of the bike sounds ideal,as does the KTM, but I CBA with all the tech & it's a parallel twin,I've grown to love the V Twin,I don't want rider modes or any of that TFT bollox,just FI,LED lighting & ABS,not that my SV650 has ABS & neither bike has a LED headlight
I think a lot of people think the same,hence the popularity of the RE bikes

I did a 5000km tour around Spain, the Pyrenees and Portugal on my 411 Himalayan, and it was fine. No motorways, and a fair few kms on a mix of gravel and asphalt tracks.

I am hoping that the 452, although a completely different bike, will still keep the feel of the 411, but be a bit quicker on the uphill mountain roads encountered.

Yes I know,I think it's been the law on bikes built since 2013? My SV is 2008 so doesn't have ABS,my 2014 Street Triple does.
All that I want on a new bike is,ABS,FI & LED lighting.For me something like keyless ignition would be a negative point.
Maybe it's an age thing,but in my mates who still ride there's only two of them who are into all the tech,both ride GS's,the other 3 of us ( Hyabusa owner & XJR13 owner) want minimum tech & spend the money we've saved on petrrol & tyres.Ironically one of the GS owners previously ran a GSXS & sold it because the electronics made it to easy for him to ride like a twat. :shock:

ABS is mandatory for any motorcycle over 125cc since 2017 if it needs to comply with Euro 6 standards.

FI is a given, even my 2008 Falco (and 1991 Ducati 888!) has it. ABS I'm very happy to have, as long as it's unobtrusive (it is on the Duke 690) and LED lighting is a nice to have, but I rarely if ever ride in the dark anyway these days.

But agree entirely with the way you're thinking. I really don't want loads of gizmos that I'll never use, just spend a bit more on decent suspension/brakes and I'm happy. I can't really imagine that a quick shifter or auto-blipper will improve my life in any way and keyless ignition can do one.

Unfortunate now that most new bikes now come with all this. The ABS and LED lighting on my NC are good, but don't really need traction control or the mapping, due to tye roads I ride it on, and I never ride in the rain unless I am caught out in it (which is rare here).

I was dead set against traction control until I got a bike with it, now I wouldn't buy a powerful road bike without it, I also love the different throttle modes on my Honda, at the press of a button I can change it from gentle to mental.

Neither my RC8 or RC8R had ABS, Traction control or different riding modes.

Would they have been better bikes by having them?

I don't mind the ABS. It's a safety aid and doesn't detract from the riding experience.

The only reason I'd change the V85TT, within the next few years, would be if it let me down again on a tour. Then I'd be scratching my head for what to replace it with. Mid-size adventure style bikes like the Transalp, Triumph 660 Sport, new VStrom spring to mind, but don't massively excite me. I'm tempted by a smaller bike like the new Himalayan, or even maybe an electric bike, but neither would meet all my riding needs.

Price for the CFmoto 450 MT is going to be £5699 OTR, should be in UK by April so hopefully some long term reviews should be in by this time next year. Looks a serious challenger to the new Himmy, similar power, quite a bit lighter, tubeless spoked wheels as standard it's a bit taller though.

I reckon tech on big bikes is good. Some for safety, some for fun. Smaller bikes not too bothered.

I don't know an RE owner who doesn't have other bikes with more tech. 🤷‍♂️
