Well, whilst looking for other info on Revolut, it seems that if I upgrade, I get Nord VPN. The cost is more than their price (monthly) for one year but less than their monthly price.

So, I'm considering that as a test. There are other benefits that might be useful to me - once I find the T&C for the insurances! Global medical insurance, lost (etc) luggage (not so much use if I get a car) and winter sports. But I need to check out the T&Cs for the two insurances to see if they are actually useful to me - the winter sports one probably not going to cover me as I live in a ski resort but the global medical insurance might be worth it as currently I have to buy travel health insurance to visit the uk - and as I've been reminded that I have a day with a ZX6r that I will use to go on track, probably worth making sure that I'm covered for that and any trips outside france!! LOL

Here's hoping that NORD will work and do what I want it to do

Today I finally tried again with the VPN stuff

Signed up to CyberGhost (can cancel if it doesn't work etc etc)

Found the discovery+ page - managed to sign in (using a different email address, they must remember ones connected to previous attempts )

Very happy with the sign in that worked - went to pay

Seems that, despite me using a card in sterling, because the billing address is in France, the payment is blocked - even though they haven't requested the billing address information

FFS - so, that's BSB off the cards for me - again. And I guess I'll be cancelling the VPN as I just can't be arsed to fanny arse around like this any time I want to watch something uk based


HTF do they get to 'know' the billing address when they haven't asked for it? Surely a sterling card is good enough?? Although, obviously not

You might try dabbling with Kodi (which is an open source media center) and basically allows you to hook into a bunch of curated streams. My setup is sideloaded onto an Amazon FireCube (so I can watch it on the big telly) and also with a VPN switched on to kick the snoopers in the stones. It's mostly fine but it's super nerdy to setup (although there are loads of really straightforward how-tos online), and obviously you have to find the most appropriate curated streams 'service'. I have to say the Android installation on my mobile is much more reliable for some reason, as long as you don't want to cast it anywhere.

As an aside, I'm not blagging this stuff because I'm a cheapskate - I would happily do PPV for a fuss-free, 'legal', one-stop-shop of content that I can watch on demand (not the dwarf-porn, rather matches for specific futball teams FFS), rather than have to jump through hoops getting half of it (plus a heap of stuff I'll never watch as a bonus) and with irritating forrin commentary across multiple providers because of my geographical location. I dunno why that should be so difficult these days.

This is my biggest issue with stuff. I'm willing to pay to watch the BSB. But because I live in France, I'm not allowed to. WTAF???
